Been having horrible flips after I eat. Now I don't want to eat. It has been over a year after ablation and now this!I ate over 2 hours ago and still having problems. Is this ablation starting to fail?

I have intermittent issues with Afib and ectopics when I eat. For me its the mechanics of eating not the food itself. The oesophagus is so close to the left atrium and any inflammation for example in the oesophagus can irritate things and cause these symptoms. I find it hard to deal with.

I have these flare ups which last for several weeks and I am scared to eat and therefore loose weight. I hate these nasty events. I dont have a solution sadly but empathise with you. Only suggestion I can give is to be selective with what you eat. I have acid reflux too and one affects other in my case. Good luck.

I think many of us on here have acid reflux. I don’t know if it is the long term use of PPIS causing us to not absorb essential vitamins such has potassium and magnesium etc or the irritation and inflammation of the stomach lining which lies close to the left atrium that causes AF? If we stop taking PPIs the inflammation gets worse, it seems damned if we do and damned if we don’t.

Thanks for your response. I take magnesium twice a day and potassium when needed. It was helping and now it seems it is not. I tried a vitamin E last night and it got worse. Feel extremely weak this morning.

Ok to take supplements but if you’re on PPIs they don’t usually absorb. Perhaps a GP can do a test to see if your low?

Thank You for the response. Just woke up and I still feel horrible. I really don,t want to go to the hospital. These episodes ware me out and I get depressed. How long ago was your ablation?

Sorry to hear you are still struggling. Go with your gut feeling and if you feel A and E is the best place for you then go along there. We can only do what feels best for us. I have not had an ablation. I have had highly symptomatic Afib and SVT for the last 16 years.
