after having a serious of blood tests and ecg’s this week been told in addition to my AF I now have first degree heart block.

No further action but hospital said they will monitor and will need to be addressed when it developed to stage two.

I have now have low sodium levels and renal levels.

Any comments on the treatment you had for heart block.

First degree heart block is very common ( slightly prolonged p-r intervale) and needs no treatment and does not affect the function of the heart. It can rarely progressto second degree block which as in Bob's case may require a pacemaker. etheral

I have second degree block and have a pacemaker.

Docs seem to only be interested if there are symptoms which cause significant problems.

I don’t think that’s a heart block treatment, usually done for AF.

Ludlum so sorry you have been burdened with another heart issue worry. I don't have any personal information to offer on this, thankfully.

As it doesn't need treating at this stage, try to gather info of things that will help naturally eg; diet things that are good etc. You perhaps may need to reduce some things and maybe other things may benefit you to increase those. One article said tomato juice is good ( BUT watch out though as shop bought are often loaded with salt) red berries and blueberries, lentils but do get help from medics/dieticians on this as some things will not be suitable for some people. Fish is good but not high strength fish oil pills if you're on anticoagulants and I do believe garlic may be the same - both of these possibly increase the risk of bleeding. Overall though look after those stress levels, they're not good either, basically relax, do what makes you feel good and what does you good and just be happy.

thank you flipper for your advice I am aware of keeping a healthy diet and fortunately I like and eat a fair amount of fish every week. My exercise levels dropped when I contacted long Covid so need to address that especially as one of the hospital doctors commented on my weight said I should aim to reduce it.I also like blue berries and just put another packet in my shopping trolley.back next week to hospital to compare my sodium level.

Take care speak soon.

I'm adding organic coconut water to your 'mix'. Good for keeping electrolytes up and also delicious. I'm sometimes low on sodium too. Also, organic miso is useful- add a little to sauces and gravies.

I have had 1st degree heart block. Had no specific treatment and it doesn’t concern or bother me in any way. However it has had an impact on the medications I have been able to take for AF. I am unable to take even a medium dose of bisoprolol because it can elongate the PR interval and also had to stop flecanide for similar reasons. I have been fine on quite a high dose of sotalol though. X

thank you for your information I am currently being reviewed regarding my medication by both hospital and my BBC G.P. and maybe my 2.5 bisoprolol needs adjustment alongside my others. Good to hear that yours is being maintained best wishes
