AFTER ALL THIS TIME TESTED POSITIVE!

Well it has happened and both of us have tested positive for Covid last evening. We tested on Wednesday as it was 2 days since we had been with my son and grandsons (who were over from US) and family in Reading and we were clear. Yesterday afternoon my wife felt rough so tested and she was positive and later I tested positive too. I got symptoms this morning and as both at higher risk have notified everyone and waiting for call backs now. This morning BP, temp and oxygen at normal levels and just lots of coughs and sneezes and feel fatigued. My kardia is not showing AF - how does that happen it's supposed to be permanent? My wife has a few lung problems and her peak flow rate has gone down so hoping Doc will prescribe something she has an emergency pack of antibiotics but not worth taking them as need antivirals if anything. Just hoping we don't get an infection from it and then need antibiotics afterwards. All in all don't feel too bad considering - it just feels like a cold.

After everyone saying its the visitors from US and airports etc it seems it's a colleague of my other daughter-in-law who lives in Reading who has kindly shared this with us and her. Just hope we haven't sent the grandsons back to the US with it as their Mum is an ICU nurse and they have an elderly friend of her Mother's who died earlier this year staying with them who they look after. Also hope we haven't shared it with anyone we were with earlier this week - been to opticians, hospital appointment, shopping, had a hair cut - you can see how things spread so easily.

Continue to stay safe everyone.

Pete and I tested positive on Sunday after our son, who lives with us, tested positive on Friday. It is like a very heavy cold with aches and pains thrown in for good measure. Pete has COPD and was fortunate enough to be prescribed antiviral medication which he is taking. They seem to be stopping covid from being much worse🤞🏼

Wishing you both well and hoping you have a good recovery. Thinking of your family too.

Take care

get well soon, lots of fluids and paracetamol for the temperature. If your eligible for antivirals they have to be started early so might be worth giving hour gp a ring

Rang GP and told if it gets any worse to go to A&E At the moment all pretty good all vitals well within normal range just tired with coughs and sneezes. Hope it stays that way.

so sorry to hear that - rife in my family last weekend so we kept clear.

On the positive - both my husband & I came through, lots of rest but don’t lie down and keep well hydrated and do the breathing exercises - that really helped both of us. Take care & much love & best wishes for speedy recovery.

We all had it earlier in the year and to be honest it was nothing. I've had far worse colds! Fully vaccinated of course. Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.

At the moment just like a bad cold. BP, oxygen and heart all within normal range hoping it will clear quickly - we are both fully vaccinated and dosing ourselves with paracetamol religiously.

Thanks we are drinking as much as we can. A neighbour has already been around with the remnants of his cough sweets. Don't seem to do much for the cough. Been told to test on 2nd 4th and 6th day. Well that will use all those test kits up quickly.

I hope you both get better soon.

I was listening to some NHS advice on the latest Kraken Covid and apparently it's the most transmissible form yet. It appears that Covid has taken off at a high rate in the UK again. Apparently you don't have to stay at home now, though it's recommended a mask should be worn if going out to highly populated places. It's just advisory that we stay home for 5 days. Though I think I would do that as a matter of concern for other people.

Stay warm.

Yes I think that was on the Tv the day we tested positive! At the moment it's just like a heavy cold. Sneezing and coughing did wake us in the night but we went to bed early and had had 5 hours sleep so we had a hot drink, listened to the radio and read our books and, of course, fell asleep with the lights and radio on! Feel a little more tired and achy today but that's probably because we did nothing yesterday. Its been a lovely day today so was wishing we could get out in the garden had I been well enough. Managing fine - ie cooking at minimum and keeping kitchen and bathroom clean then just sitting down.
