Hello everyone..my husband had a pacemaker put in, a few months ago.
He also has occasional slow af. And is currently considering whether to take anticoagulants
anyway..I like to check his hr and to check for ectopics(which he gets). Am concerned tho that I shouldn’t be using the kardia(As kardia says they don’t recommend it’s use when you have a pacemaker)
Are there any opinions on here? Do other people with pacemakers use kardia?
thank you

I asked my pacing team about getting a Kardia and they said the results may not be accurate and they would rather I go in for them to download the history if I was worried about anything.
I have a pacemaker and I use the Kardia - occasionally I get a few odd squiggles which my EP told me was the PM kicking. My understanding was that it was because the PM would affect the Kardia rather than the other way around. Most modern PM’s are not affected by most devices and the only things I was told to avoid was standing over induction hobs, I still use the one at my son’s house but am just careful to not stand over it. I’ve had an MRI after PM was fitted.
I won’t bother - I can call the pacing clinic if I’m concerned . If they can’t see anything with the data received from my bedside monitor I can lift off the telephone receiver device and place it against my pacemaker and provide a fresh download. They ring me back with results.
I have a Boston Scientific CRT-p (Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy Pacemaker) implanted and I am in permanent AF. Kardia told me that the readings would not be accurate so I stopped using it. I also have a monitor by my bed.
hi. Yes my husband has a monitor by his bed also.. for his pacemaker. He has an appointment next Friday to have his settings adjusted. So think we will just rely on the pacing team to advise( you can get quite anxious using a Kardia and wondering what the various ecg patterns mean!
It is easy to get anxious about these health issues but, hopefully, you should be able to get answers at your husband's appointment one Friday. Good luck!
I recently had a pacemaker installed.. and still use the Kardia. It helps me quickly see whether I'm in sinus rhythm.. the pacing team monitors the PM readings.. covering all the bases.
