Aspirin75mg / gnawing pain

Hi,Following a long period of very high number of ectopics (now much calmer) my meds are Lipitor40,Bisoprolol 2.5mg and Aspirin75mg. Of late I ve been getting a wave of discomfort emanating in the left chest. Not so much pain just an uncomfortable gnawing sensation. No appts available for a few weeks so I'm going to drop the aspirin for a while. Any comments?

My advice is that you should get medical advice before changing prescribed medicines, even if your first port of call is a pharmacy and not your GP or 111.

Secondly, my thoughts were like yours, that the aspirin is causing this. My late father became quite ill while taking aspirin without ever associating his nausea and other feelings with this seemingly simple and safe little tablet. At the time, we thought the worst for him. That's how bad it was. When he stopped taking it, he improved completely.

Hi Talipia, I was originally on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol and 0.75mg aspirin, so both low doses. In my case the chest pain was caused by Bisoprolol. You are taking 3 drugs which are all well documented as causing muscle spasms (including chest pain) as side effects, so a triple whammy. Please speak to your doctor asap regarding your medication. You don’t say for how long you’ve been taking the meds, but my symptoms started after a couple of weeks and in the end I had severe pain throughout my body which left me unable to even get out of bed.

years ago on Tenormin I believe it caused a chest pain which I would complain to my doctor about and he would just say well we did all the non invasive tests. Just brushed me off. I stopped taking it on my own, (I know, not a good idea). But that pain went away, I went years without issues. Now I am on Nebivolol and feel the same pressure. The feeling is like the heart is caged and is trying to get out.
