When is best time to take Rivaroxaban?

Following the recent discussions regarding Rivaroxaban. I have a question please.

I have been taking 20mg daily for about 8 months with a quite substantial bowl of cereal at breakfast time. Would it perhaps be more beneficial to take with my evening meal ?

Thanks

I take mine in the evening after dinner as does my husband. We both take 20mg.

I have been taking it for ten years and originally took it in the morning. However a colleague at the time who is a haematologist condultant recomended I take it with my evening meal and that meal containing fat for best absorption. I am not sure that breakfast cereal is sufficient. Just my take on it.

Yes. A proper meal as I have been telling people since I was at school with Noah.

As is beginning to dawn on me. You'd think someone might have mentioned it when they were prescribed. I'm Sure it said in the contained info leaflet that it could be taken any time. Or perhaps that was a different box of pills. Many thanks all for the info. Much appreciated Will adjust accordingly.

I really don’t think many medics even know about it and most are not experts in pharmacology anyway.

Ask a pharmacist - they know far more than doctors.

I take mi e at bedtime but might try taking earlier. My thinking is that its effects are irreversible but only last 24 hours so less danger of bleed accidents overnight. Slo less time very vulnerable.

I was told that in the UK, NICE recommended regular once-day dosing with a meal, but that in the USA, an earlier approval, the FDA suggested it was best taken with the evening meal.

If you are having gastric side-effects, I would try taking it in the evening. It certainly helped with my IBS symptoms - however, not taking it at all helped even more.

I have always taken mine with my evening meal which is quite early. However, Bayer, the manufacturers of Xarelto have produced a generic for the African market called iXarola - it is identical in every way to the original, save for the name change and a slightly lighter colour foil containing the pills. It is much cheaper than the original so I have just changed to it (my pharmacist says there is no difference) anyhow it has an extensive patient instruction leaflet in the box, which says 'take with food' apart from suggesting you take it at the same time every day to remember it, it does not say what type of food or which time of day is best to take it. The leaflet bears the Bayer logo and name, so obviously comes from them.
