flecanide extra dose

hi all, I am on 100mg of flecanide twice a day so total 200mg. I take at 8am and 8pm. Accidentally this morning I took my 100mg then an hour later took another 100mg does rather than my bisoprolol tablet. So I have taken no more than 300mg in a 24 hour period but a bit worried In taking 200mg in short succession. Any ideas if I should do anything?

If anything really bad were going to happen - it would have by now. If you feel anything unusual in your heart rhythm then ring your doctor or go to emergency.

We’ve all done it with one Med or another and speaking for myself, nothing bad happened other than note to self to pay more attention.

Should be no problem so long as you do not exceed 300mg in any 24 hour period. When I was for a short while on flecainide pip it was 300mg in one go.

Personally, so long as I felt fine, that's what I would do. And indeed have done when accidentally overdosed on my meds. As CDreamer says, the half life will kero you topped up till morning

up to you - the half life of Flec is 12-27 hours or thereabouts so the would be some low levels in your system to last through until tomorrow morning.

I've been told by my cardiologist to take an extra tablet if I go into AFib. I'm also on the same dose and time as you.

I am also on the same dose (100mg twice a day) and have done exactly what you have more than a few times in the last 4 years with no noticeable affect.

How much bisoprolol do you usually take am?

I guess the question 'do I leave out my 100mg flex tonight? I would say "don't take it'

Other question do I leave out my bisoprolol?

Take your BP and H/R. I would be inclined to leave your bisoprolol am and take it

at night instead.

Start tomorrow with normal regime.

Bisoprolol with me never has a dramatic effect.

I have 1.25mg of bisoprolol. I ended up taking my bisoprolol in the morning and skipped the evening flecanide with no I’ll effects.

I have gone back to my normal routine this morning 😁

Great Tom.

Bisoprolol I find is mild compared to Diltiazem which has a huge effect on heart rate.

I'd say with experience that Diltiazem needs careful attention as on a 1/2 daily dose I 'lost' 105 beats a minute.

With the twice a day PRADAXA at night I take 2 out and leave 1 out for the morning.

I also have two items 1 x bucket smarties and 1 x zipper purse for each might and morning pills ( I take 125mg Synthroid at 5-7am every morning without fail too.

Keeping your daily doses in a different place will prove easier on your brain.

Not sure about Flec ... I understood it was a PIP pill in pocket med. I have never been offered that on rapid persistent heart rate with AF.

I would say its NOT the dosage per say but the effects it has on your current status of Systolic and diastolic levels as will as your heart rate.

It doesn't mean anything that someone has taken 300mg flec in one dose!

Hi I've done same thing twice when I was on 300m a day will be fine just relax and return to normal dose tomorrow.

just seen this so it’s probably all ok I would say ride things out until your next dose is due. Occasionally if I’ve been in AFib and I’ve tried to use flecainide as a pip ( not prescribed just trying it) it’s given me a headache but that’s it.

Hi there. No wanting to scare, I had an AF episode couple of weeks ago that didn't sort itself, so on doctors advice took 300 mg of Flec. I ended up in AE resus! Had an emergency Cardioversion, but at least I am now in SR!

Yes Tom. Turns out that there's a small chance of a major issue with the whole heart fibrillating! I'm usually on 50mg twice a day, so 300mg was a shock to the system...literally!
