Chest Tightness / Discomfort Post Ablation

Hi all am asking on behalf of my OH who had his ablation a week ago - he is experiencing what he calls ‘chest tightness/discomfort’ non and off - but no trouble breathing - in fact he finds walking easier than before the procedure. Can anyone share their experiences of how long this tightness might last before he should ring up the cardio team!? Thanks so much.

Correction - his ablation was 2 weeks ago. This week he has had two 30 minute walks and I wonder if that was too much too soon…..everyone’s experience post ablation seem to vary so widely it would be great to see if chest discomfort/tightness is a common symptoms for others - and for longer than he was advised he would experience.

Read:- healthunlocked.com/redirect... which I am sure will help. Ablation is a serious assult on the heart even if the patient doesn't have a giant zip up their chest and recover is not as simple as doctors tell you.

I've had three ablations and no such experience. I suggest he contact doctor ASAP.

How long did your first ablation last. I had my first 18 months ago in Toronto Canada.Everything is good so far, I take flecanide every day

Wish you well.

I had this after my first ablation. It was found that it generally came on after taking my bisoprolol doses. And stayed with me on a lesser level later in day. Once I spoke to the EP they weren't sure what was going on until I mentioned the bisoprolol, that was understood and it wore off over the coming weeks. Bob has a good point as well and many people don't realize what he is saying. Hope it settles soon.

I had chest tightness for 2-3 weeks after my ablation, I felt it on taking deep breathes. It eases off and is pretty normal. Exercise is good, 30 mins of walking a day sounds about right for this stage of recovery, then build it up over the next month.

I have literally just had my cryoablation yesterday 28th Feb 23 and initially felt fine but this morning woke with the tight chest on breathing deeply it feels more across the top of my chest near the collar bone, it's weird as it's worse when I lay down and eases when I sit up, but we are all different

Yes that's par for the course, I'm afraid. As you just had cryo, I would expect it to wear off in a week. I had both cryo and RF with additional areas outside the pulmonary veins so it took me 3 weeks to get rid of the tightness.

I had my ablation on Dec. 5th and experienced the same thing, very mildly, for a couple days after. However, I had the symptoms much worse after my first ablation, which lasted about a week after. Every procedure is different and so is each body -- I hope your situation resolves itself soon.
