Hi all

I take 2.5mgs of Bisoprolol daily for my Afib. Been taking it for about 12 months. I now get a tight chest and a little breathless ? This was not the case before Bisop.

The Bisop seems to control my Afib and fast HR but should this be the case ? wiil it get worse ?

Too weird. Lost as always with this illness.

Rod

I am not medically trained but worth talking to your gp - I had to come off it as gp said as a beta blocker it can s.times supress lung function, (especially in s.one with asthma.) They reduced dose but, still had problems. My cardiologist changed Bisoporol to a calcium channel blocker

Hi

I was on 6.25mg of Bisoprol, had same symptoms. Drug changed and immediately better. Seems that some folk cannot tolerate Bisoprol.

All the best

I remember those symptoms so well. I was started five years ago on 2.5mg Bisoprolol and felt like someone was pressing down on my chest. A reduction to 1.25mg was an improvement but I still was breathless and unable to function properly.

My GP changed me from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol last year and it was such an immense relief - I take 2.5mg and the symptoms have gone.

Definitely talk to your GP about the effect on your quality of life. Nebivolol is a beta blocker similar to Bisoprolol, except it acts only on cardiac tissue whereas Bisoprolol acts on lung tissue too - hence its effects in some people.

I asked to change to Nebivolol after reading reports on it like Finvola's and I find it much better than Bisoprolol.

Sometimes your body is working a lot better and you don't need 2.5 eachday. In my case I split my tablets to 1.25 in the morning and 1.25 in the evening and that made me less breathless. It might be worth checking your blood pressure and seeing if bisoprolol has caused it to drop too much. That is why I split my tablets .But it might be worth just checking with the nurse or doctor but take some bp readings and pulse rate so they can see what is happening. Contact me any time if you are worried cause I know what it like with AF

My bp is always low now. It used to be perfect? HR is now usually 60 and under but can still jump around. They tried to put me on Digoxin as well but that really wiped me out 😕
