Good vitamin supplements
Yes......vitamin D in olive oil, 2000iu per drop. 2 drops on my forearms, it rubs in easily. Enters the body from where it is usually made by the body, the skin. Have done this for years. I have excellent Vit D level.
You need a base line to know how much you need to take.
I take 5000 iu and my level is 124 nmol/L ( reference is 50 -150nmol/L )
I always take a minimum of 100mcg K2M7 with it.
As CDreamer says you can get kidney stones ( or unneeded calcium) with tablets
I prefer softgels to tablets .
Any reputable make which includes K2 to help absorption. I use a spray - into inside of cheeks - called BetterYou at night and drops in the morning. I prefer to take in 2 small doses of maximum of 400iu as I have had kidney stones which can be caused by taking too much D3, especially in one dose. Taking it at night also aids good sleep.
I take 4000 IU daily get it from Superself on line.
My vitamin D was very low, and I have learned that I have the VDR Taq genetic SNP which may be partly the culprit. That, and working inside an office all day and not enough sunlight. Anyhow, I take 10k Vitamin D plus K2 daily, and my level ranges between 70-90, which is great. This is what I take.

Can I ask where you get your supplement from please? I too had very low vitamin D and have recently come to the end of a loading dose. I've had a phototoxic reaction to furosemide so have to be ultra careful with the sun.....
The standard dose supplements are said to be safe for anyone to take. If you have a known deficiency, your GP should be your guide but I would also be exposing myself to lots of sunshine as that creates natural vitamin D in large quantities. I took a high dose a year or so back and it caused what my doctor told me was likely to have been a kidney stone. Never again.
I read only last week yet another study that showed conclusively that for most people vitamin supplements are ineffective:

I normally would be out in the sunshine but unfortunately had a phototoxic reaction to furosemide so now have to be ultra careful......
As mentioned above, you need a baseline to determine proper dosage.
Ask for a blood test to determine your level of Vitamin D and consult with your GP on proper dosage.
