Vitamins D and K2 and Adcal

I heard yesterday from my daughter-in-law that my grandson, who suffers from PoTS, had had blood tests done. She said "these show that he has extremely low vitamin D so is starting vitamins this week. I think his new doctor is hoping this may help relieve some tiredness and aches." I sent her this video

which I watched. I was interested that John Campbell didn't have much time for Adcal. I had reached the same opinion and stopped taking it.

He also talked about K2 and I thought I must get them, looked it up on Amazon and found that I bought some last month. Then I remembered that I had side effects, which may or may not have been the result of the K2, so thought I'd try them again. I can't remember what these side effects were so we shall see!

I also worked out that maybe 200mcg could be too much so I will cut each tablet in half.

My vit D level is now 152 nmol/L, thanks to this forum.

That's a great level Physalis. I take K2 usually 100mcg daily though sometimes 200 depending on what tablets I have bought. If you do not take large amounts of supplemental calcium 100mcg should be fine. There is K2 in food as well .

That's a good serum Vit D level but you should keep your dairy, which is high in calcium, to an absolute minimum, because higher serum Vit D levels bring a higher level of calcium absorption which can cause ectopics and AF.

I would find that very difficult as I drink two pints of milk a day. I haven't had AF since my ablation a year and a half ago.

As I am on the border between osteopaenia and osteoporosis, my doctor wanted me to take the Adcal tablets and Alendronic acid but first I had to have a blood test to check my Vit D level. This is because the Adcal tablets contain 400IU of VitD3.

In August I reckoned that with my 2000 mg of calcium from milk and 3000IU of Vit D, I didn't need a further 3000 mg of calcium and 800IU of Vit D so I stopped taking the Adcal-d3.

I have just started taking 100mcg of VitK.
