Hello everyone ! Hope all of you are doing good. It has been quite a while since I last posted here. Just would like to tell you that it has been one year and three months since I had my cryoablation and I am pleased to tell you that I have been AF-free since. I have also had my 2 shots of AZ covid-19 vaccine and am now awaiting my booster shot. My BP is under control and I am no longer on anti arrhythmic drugs. I used to be on Multaq and Sotalol among other drugs. For anyone still suffering from AF please do not despair. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I suffered AF for 4 years before undergoing my cryoablation. If you are a suitable candidate, my recommendation is to go for it. It makes a huge difference to your QOL. Yes everyone reacts differently to treatments and procedures etc but do give this a go if offered by your EP. I have not passed the two years mark yet but I am staying positive that this may last as long as it could. I wish everyone an AF-free New Year and Stay Safe and Stay Healthy.
Happy New Year : Hello everyone ! Hope... - Atrial Fibrillati...

OMG!!!! Likewise, so good to hear from you again!! . I hope you have been keeping well too. I will always remember all your encouraging words and very useful tips when I was “down” with AF - literally. This forum is a God-send for AFibbers. I am so glad I found this after I was diagnosed with AF in 2016. Take care Jean and Happy New Year 🥳
Great to hear some good news as 2021 begins to fade into the distance! All the best to you ‘n yours…..👍
Likewise. Glad to hear from you too again FlapJack. May 2022 be a better year for us all. Hope you have been well.
Hi spritzer.
Glad to hear you’ve been doing well since your ablation 💪 great news!
Have you had any strange happenings since coming off the meds at all?
I’m 5 months post ablation and only had a very short bout of af almost 3 months in but nothing since 🤞
I’ve been off all medication since 3 weeks ago tomorrow and am getting some strange happenings with the ticker which I’m hoping isn’t atrial flutter 🤞 just wondered if you’d had anything strange happening with yours since you came off?
Thanks 👍
Hi Elli. Hope you are keeping well. No I did not have anything strange happen since I was taken off the anti arrhythmic medications after the ablation. However I remember feeling anxious as my heart rate remained high (in the range of 105 to 112) for about 2 months after the ablation. I did not go into AF though just high heart rate. I am however pleased to inform you that one year after the ablation my normal daily heart rate has returned to between 72 to 84 almost on a daily basis. I guess it is true what they say .. each individual will have a different recovery pattern. It took me almost a year to get a heart rate reading which I personally am happy with. In between, about 3 months after the ablation I started doing my usual walking around the neighbourhood thingy. Nothing too strenuous for me. I hope what you are experiencing is just the body trying to adjust initially sans medication. Hope that is just temporary. Check back with your EP if it recurs more frequently. I wish you all the best and from my experience it does take time before my heart feels completely normal again. Take care.
Always heartening to hear how well people are doing after there ablations. I am 9 mths since my cryoablation drug free and although I get blips and runs of tachy and ectopics I’m so pleased I haven’t had AF. Here’s to many more months AF free for you. 👍👍
Hi Stoneytosed. Yes indeed. It is always always heartening to hear fellow AFibbers doing better after the ablation. And i totally understand what you mean .. we take ‘anything’ so long as we don’t go into AF right ..😀 You too take care and may we all be AF-free for many many many months and years to come.
Happy New Year to you too xx
So glad to hear from someone who is happy they had an ablation as I am scheduled for one January 11. It took me a year and a half of on and off Afib bouts to decide to ablate as I have been extremely lucky with my health and this will be the first time I have had to go to hospital for a procedure at age 68.
Best wishes. I am sort of the same. I had not been in hospital before ablation age 62
All the best for the ablation. May everything be good and well for you. I am sure you have read up all the literature provided by AFA on this site. They are indeed very helpful. Once again all the best and let us know how it goes.
Hello. I was reading your post and would like to ask you if you had problems in the early weeks of recovery/ Things like depression, heart flutters, especially after you eat and joints hurting. Heart races sometimes also. The 18th of this month I will be 3 months out. Seems like I'm getting worse than better.
Hi there! Happy New Year. Sorry to hear that you are feeling worse than better. If it would be of any help at all .. from my experience the post ablation recovery is a long journey. I did not have heart flutter after the procedure but I did fall into a state of depression as I guess I was expecting things to be ‘normal’ within a short period of time .. hence, I was really bothered by the fact that my HR kept being on a high side weeks after the ablation, not being able to do house chores like I used to and engaging in my favourite activities such as long distance cycling, etc. it is indeed a long and unique journey. I believe many in this forum have had similar experience like you do. And some have undergone more than 3 procedures and they are still here giving us good advice on how to manage our condition. I used to go into AF after I took certain food or if the weather is jus too hot. I personally think 3 months is still considered ‘early days’ and your body is still adjusting. I know it is easier said than done but hang in there, you will get better as the day passes by. All the best to you and take care.
