Booster vaccine update

I had my Pfizer booster vaccine today in a GP surgery. I was surprised to see that people were packed into the waiting room , not quite like sardines but certainly with not much distancing evident . When I mentioned this to those organising the session, I got a rude response, "well, we've been doing this every Saturday, and nobody else has complained." So far I've had a slightly faster heart rate than usual but nothing else. The GP who administered the vaccine said they hadn't had any problems with AF patients taking the vaccine. Everyone had to remain in the surgery for 15 mins after the vaccination but it wasn't explained why.

This is normal practice after most jabs. Always had to wait in Waiting room after flu jab and similar for all Covid jabs but we were told we were OK to go home if someone else was with us. Not allowed to stay in vaccination centre but told to wait in car if we were driving ourselves.

Fat lot of good being in your car would have done if you had gone into anaphylactic shock . The wait is supposed to be to watch out for that.

They only sent you out to your car if someone was with you if not you went into a separate room - the local village hall so plenty of room with chairs spaced at 6' 6" apart . You were told not to come on your own but have some one with you and not to drive yourself.

I waited in an outside queue with a couple of hundred people. Pinged a few days later, positive for Covid! NHS super spreader event!!

A week or so an NHS bus near Sainsbury’s was offering booster jabs. About 50 people-all over 60-were queuing without distancing. I estimate that around one third were not wearing masks. Today, groups of maskless people going to a nearby pharmacy walked through the vaccine queue. Inside people were definitely not 2 metres apart. I was told that it was no longer a requirement that people be distanced even though there was a poster on the door stating that they should preserve two metres distance.

Exactly. Here we are told to come exactly on time for our appointment so there are only about 2 or 3 people waiting. All had to wear masks - if they didn't have any they were given one and social distance.

Unfortunately people either side of me in queue weren’t wearing masks. Lady behind said she worked for NHS and was there for her first injection! I’ve got her fingered b

We still must wear masks in France and show our pass to go in anywhere, I’m off to England tomoz for five day trip and it’s sounds a bit scary. I didn’t realize masks weren’t needed or distance. It seems a bit odd as everyone was used to doing it and it’s not a big deal. Oh well this will be interesting ! Ol blighty here I come! Haven’t been fir years and I’m quite excited 😁

In some countries masks are even required when walking outdoors. And the requirement in Bavaria is for FFP2s which are more effective than ordinary surgical or bandana-type masks. It's no wonder that around 1 in 50 have the virus here.

Yes we have FFP2 masks which we wear. It seems the most sensible thing to do.

I have bought FFP2 masks as they are for your own protection more than for the protection of others. That is because other people are not bothering with masks/spacing. I recently attended a meeting where we were all sat well apart in a large circle. After the meeting people came up close to chat and hug me!

I would take your masks with you ! At the moment we cannot go to UK ( not that we want to) because identity cards are no longer valid for entry . Until we get round to getting French passports we cannot enter. Have a good time .

Just because it is not mandatory doesn't mean you don't have to do it. I was surprised on our recent visit to the Cotswolds how many people were still wearing masks. Nearly all supermarkets had signs up saying if you don't wear a mask - without good reason then don't enter - though to be honest how they enforce that I don't know. Here in Wales mask wearing is more widespread.

The 15 minute wait is to see if one has any reactions right away.

In Ireland you have to wear masks in most indoor places and show vaccine cert to get in to restaurants, pubs, etc… However, a lot of places are just not checking so I don’t fully trust that the people in the venue are all vaccinated. Numbers are high too although 90% of over 12s are vaccinated.

They might lateral test though which is far better for your protection, than them being vaxed does'nt guarrentee your safe !!

I’m afraid not. I of course know there are no guarantees but masks, distancing, hand hygiene and especially vaccines are all part of our armour against this virus. It is the law here and I want it followed.

And of course tests are not guarantee either.

According to The University college of London doing their bona fide research the figure on lateral testing being true were 90%+ as opposed to a lot earlier figures believed to be 60%, a survey by the Imperial college released last week on studies regarding households and the passing on of the virus, stated double vaxed people had only a one third chance of NOT passing the virus- But I understand your fears and duly accept your comments ..

Yes, that research is looking good for antigen testing. And agree, vaccines are not on their own protecting everyone. I’m advocating all of the protocols and 🤞they will help protect.

I tested negative on two lateral flows. Only PCR picked up Covid

The stats from Imperial on their research into lateral, states 90% affective, you're probably one of the 10% ?
