Hello there!

I was wondering if any of you have ever had episodes of fibrillation and/or skipped heartbeat in certain positions.

I noticed that I did when I leaned forward severely or crossed my legs and turned my head to the left.

Also, I noticed the same phenomenon when my belly is bloated.

Yes, stretching up above my head to high shelves or prune a tall plant can be bad news….

Doing anything if it feels like it.

Yes Lien-Ju. Lying on my back with my hands stretched above my head, so I definitely make sure I avoid that!

Yes, absolutely! Bending forward/down or after meals.

Hi,

Yes back in the day, during the early stages of my AF journey a range of foods would trigger massive and painful bloating from which point I would trip into AF. I came to the view after quite a while my vagal nerve was a bit dysfunctional.

Kneeling down to pull a pan out of bottom cupboard usually brings a nice few missed beats on.!! My pans are hung up now at easy reach.👍

Lien-Ju,

After having paroxsymal AF for years, I found that the trigger for the majority of my AF episodes was simply "thoracic pressure" (bending over to pick up something, straining and holding my breath to open a jar, overeating and/or coughing, etc). This all finally made sense to me when I understood that the "bad circuitry" is located in and around the junction of the pulmonary veins to the left atrium. Putting pressure in/around my thoracic cavity would cause a cardio-pulmonary reaction resulting in the bad circuitry kicking in. After realizing this, I was so conscious of any thoracic pressure, I would exhale fully before bending, straining, etc. It actually seemed to help, but certainly wasn't a cure. Before having an ablation (fix!) I went several weeks without an episode (unusual for me) by being conscious of the thoracic pressure and making sure to fully exhale upon bending, etc. Give it a go--but get in line for an ablation.
