This is aimed at those of you (if any) who have been on 2.5mg of Felodopine for high blood pressure and who have come off it. The question is did you come off it cold turkey or gradually. Did you notice any change to your blood pressure readings as a result ?
My BP medication history is - originally put on 10mg Ramipril umpteen years ago. Some 10 years ago my 'new GP' down 'ere in Cornwall added 2.5 mg of Felodopine to my party bag. Can't remember why as I really had my BP controlled by Ramipril.
In Jan 2021 my 'new GP' ( another one, a different practice) increased my Bisoprolol (from 5mg to 7.5mg) to address my blood pressure which was averaging about 131/70 ish. I turn 77 next month. Again, I never requested it.
Today I went about sorting out my next weeks supply of medication into my 'tower' when I realised that I'd run out of Felodopine. I have now made an online request for more but suddenly thought as I am gonna do without it for a few days I'd observe the behaviour of my BP. So far after one day no difference, if anything my BP is slightly lower. Now I realise one swallow doesn't make a summer so I'll see what happens in the days ahead.
I can certainly confirm that the additional lump of Bisoprolol isn't doing anything for my BP at all.
Would welcome your comments on your experiences, thanks.
Hi John, hope you are managing to repel all emmets/grockles !! I have no experience or knowledge of Felodopine but I think it’s recommended that any upward or downward changes to medication which can affect blood pressure is done progressively. As you know, I know nuffin about any fing, but 131/70 sounds pretty good to me, seems a shame to tempt fate by increasing Bisoprolol unless it’s necessary. Wonder what others might think…..take care, John
I have had high BP all my life & it surprised me that GP thinks 131/70 high enough to warrant extra medication.Unless this was an average or you are very low weight. Not ideal.I was taken off felodopine for non AFib related reasons. No difference to BP. However I had been suffering from very mild incontinence which went away when I stopped it.Obviously only speaking from my own experience.

Hiya John,
If only I could repel emmetts and grockles ...... dealing with AF is easier than that
😂😂
My doseage of Felodopine is very low anyway (2.5mg) so I don't have a lot of room to play with. Apart from which when I did my online repeat prescription I selected the wrong medication beginning with the letter 'F' !
Hopefully the real and true Felodopine will be available for me on Thursday.
Yeah, the readings of 131/70 ain't too bad ... on a weight fer age basis.
Hi I am on Felodipin never came off of it but I do know if I run out it affects my blood pressure drastically. I’m also on perindropil for blood pressure. And Edoxaban for AF.If this helps my BP is usually 120/80 and I think yours sounds good to me too considering both of our ages.
Y'know I always find it amazing that GP's nearly always prescribe a cocktail of drugs to deal with blood pressure. Jeans post and the link to Sanya Gupta of York Cardiology says it all.
Generally, month on month my BP's highs and lows are in the range 109 / 61 to 143/ 81 but I'm happy with the average of 131/70.
So far with the non consumption of Felodopine since Saturday, my BP has behaved as you would expect - up and down all day long, just like BP does. Hour on hour BP never stays the same.
What really gets me - apart from not being able to have an intelligent conversation with my GP in this damn CoVid environment - is why she upped my Bisoprolol from 5 mg to 7.5mg in order to deal with my BP ..... Bisoprolol is a drug used for heart rate control - I have never read anything that suggests it's to be used for BP control. Thus far its done nothing for my BP and equally, damn all for my HR which is steady at 56 to 71 bpm, averaging arounf 65 bpm. Thus far 7.5mg of Bisoprolol is doing nothing for me. Very shortly I'll need a medical for the renewal of my bus drivers PCV licence .......... now that'll be an interesting session when we meet face to face.
Any ccb makes my feet swell so much that I can't wear my shoes. Ramipril gives me constant coughs. I'm on irbesarten. Much better for me and mirning BP now 120/70.
