Forgot to take my morning meds

Well, who was a silly boy then ........... me ! I take a range of meds, some in the morning and some in the evening. Yesterday, Saturday, I overslept (for once ) and threw myself into my day with much vigour, verve and gusto ... and forgot my morning meds. I take 2 BP specific meds in the morning ( Ramipril and Felodopine ). My evening meds include a NON SPECIFIC BP medication, Nebivolol but I didn't forget it.

The point is that 24 hrs after forgetting my two meds my BP had shot up to 161/94 ..... it would normally be around 134/80 first thing in the morning.

My point is that contrary to popular belief - my beta blocker has had absolutely no impact on assisting controlling my BP at all. The only meds that assist in BP control are BP specific meds, i.e. Ramipril and Felodopine. The beta blocker did however hold my HR nice n' steady at 66 bpm, pretty much as it always does, and as I was originally told is what it is designed to do.

So, I still doubt the claims that a beta blocker will contribute to controlling BP.

Just sayin' that's all.😱

Interesting John.

Because my BP has recently been dropping below 100/60 I stopped taking my losartan a couple of weeks ago whilst still taking my Nebivolol (cadiac specific) and warfarin. Results were BP rose to 120/70.(average two weeks) I am now going to try stopping nebivolol and restart losartan and log those results. I tend to agree with you that beta blockers are for rate control not BP. No idea why my BP is no longer a problem.

Hi

3lbs only.

My 6kgs changed my meds..

Synthroid from 125mg daily and 2 days 150mg extra to

125mg daily except 2 days of only 100mg!

Also H/R Day at rest came down a further level Diltiazem AM controlled from 88-96 to 60s.

So weight does make a difference.

Nibble and leave - don't get pushed around Drrrrr.

Hi

With initially no help taking a BB for H/R Bisoprolol 2.5mg control my BP. But

last year yet a new H/Sp and EP combined discovered that I have a soft Systollic Heart Murmur. I show a high Systollic BP.

But no BB controlled the rapid and persistent H/R.

It was a private H/Sp who introduced me to CCB Diltiazem and whilst 1/2 and 180mg was too much (dropped 105 in 2 hours after taking it) 120mg was my optimum dose.

So each of us needs to adjust and/or introduce meds to get our balance. Caution BBs and CCBs need to be separated. AM my CCB and PM BB. Remember no fod around CCB.
