Hi Pad , yes infection can cause higher heart rate, as anything that causes inflammation I'm led to believe , as can tooth decay which also has a negative affect on the heart etc. I did read that dental hygiene etc seemingly can be linked to heart disease in general somewhere.

Is now but had a wobble due to the idiots prescribing a BP drug I didn't need, one which basically put me in hospital more than once before the penny dropped.

According to this article toothache and gum problems can trigger AF:

I had an abscess and was diagnosed with paroxysmal AF before it was treated.

How was your AF after your tooth got treated?

Further testing didn't show AF. That isn't conclusive evidence, but I feel myself it is significant.

I have a ganglion cyst on my ankle that periodically causes unbearable pain. I went to the doctor this morning and she gave me a steroid injection and scheduled a little surgical procedure on Wednesday to remove it. Well, we celebrated and made homemade pizza for dinner! It was pretty spicy! Well perhaps thirty minutes following dinner l went into afib. I drank some v8 juice and off to the emergency room we went. I converted five minutes after entering the emergency room. Nonetheless, they hooked me up to all of the monitors, took blood, chest X-ray, etc. Well, to make a long story longer, during the stay at the hospital, l hit my cyst ... the pain was unbearable and although l was in natural sinus rhythm, my heart shot up on the monitor ... we watched it ... with each jolt of pain, my heart rate would increase ... then when the pain started to subside ... my heart rate returned to normal. So l saw with my own two eyes what pain does to one’s heart. Avoid it at all costs. I’m also wondering if the steroid injection might have triggered the afib attack.
