Good Morning everyone, well after 10 days of being in and out of AF think it has started to settle down. One thing though I have started to get palpitations but my heart isn’t racing as such. I can hear my heart seemingly banging around but when I check my HR it is 76 or so. Just had it now. It’s like a beat has dropped in my neck then it starts banging around. Went to doctors he said you will get this tried to explain that it has never been like this before but to no avail. It makes me feel quite yuk for a while.

AF and palpitations
That could be slow AF which I often find more ‘bumpy’ or clusters of ectopics - very bumpy! I wonder if you have had an infection or a virus lately because I get the same scenario with those ❤️🩹
Hi there, that sounds very logical. It all started at the beginning of that heatwave. I had them again this morning but they didn’t last that long. Thanks.
Just read about what you have said, I really do think that is what is happening. I am having a lot of stress related problems at the moment. Which obviously aren’t helping.
That heatwave really messed me up, days of AF and then very slow AF with pauses 😕
Hi Gillybean123 ,
I looked back over your posts to see what medication you are on, do you still take verapamil and fleconaide daily and then additional flec as A PIP? Is it your watch that’s telling you, you are in and out if Afib? So with daily medication you have been in and out if Afib for past 10 days?
Your GP sounds very much like mine, regarding Afib, so I don’t discuss it with him anymore as they do not understand 😳 I get a similar response.
Do you have a Cardiology appointment coming up? It would be good to talk to someone who knows more. Did you get any magnesium in the end too?
Hi Theresa, yes still on same medication.I do check my watch but always do it myself if it is going fast. I’ve decided not to see that doctor anymore. This morning I managed to get a referral to see the lady who is a doctor in cardiology at the Gloucester Royal. I don’t think GP’s understand how it makes you feel.anyway we shall see. If she says everything is fine and not to worry then I won’t.
Hi Gilly,I’m so pleased you are getting to see a cardiologist and hopefully it will be soon. GPs don’t seem to understand - perhaps they would, if they had this.
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
I have been the same I last saw my cardiologist in June and at that point I was having Afib episodes every two weeks but since July I have been having a lot more and the last two weeks I have only had what I call four normal days. I am thinking I might need my medication altering I know my trigger is the heat so as soon as I start to get hot that’s it back in Afib and on those days I really do think about having an ablation but then i keep saying it’s not a cure so why do I want to put my self through it. The medication I am on is 3.75 bisoprol and50mg flecainide twice a day.
Hi there, jumping into discussion if you dont mind. After successful Ablation 2016 not had AF since. Then 2 weeks ago at beginning of latest heatwave I suddenly started getting AF Episodes. After a day short episodes went into almost constant AF, with chest pain, breathless, Went into A&E - after many tests and nightmare 19 hours sat in waiting room. Sent home told all ok not to worry as heart rate slow to normal. Have been referred for Cardiology and Holter Monitor etc. I was always slow to normal HR even when my AF was bad the fibrillation was aggressive, felt like whole cast of Strictly Come Dancing in my chest doing every dance. Now 2 weeks later the AF has settled, getting odd episodes but its weird minutes of normal then few minutes AF. Long gaps between beats and HR slow. Was 45 - 50 yesterday so I stopped taking Bisoprolol, today its up to 60. Im on Abixiban as well. Perhaps it was the heat that caused it. But Ive been abroad several times in very hot weather without any effect before.
Hi there, I have had a very strange day today. Got up this morning had my breakfast and then went into AF not really fast but not nice. Took two flecanide calmed down after an hour. Then I started with loud heartbeats trying to get out of my chest, in my ears and my fingers. Tried to have a lie down then decided to call 111. Spoke to a lovely lady who got a professional person to call me who was lovely as well. Went through all the questions, she said to keep an eye on my HR and to go to GP on Monday. I said can you be in AF and not have a rapid heart rate. She said yes you can. Now I always thought that the only way you new that your AF had gone back to normal was when your heart rate is back to normal. This is really getting me down now. She also said to see get a referral to see cardiologist which I have already done so but will chase on Monday. Hope I haven’t got to spend all day tomorrow like this. Never been like this before.
