Only when waiting for a procedure and then I did get insurance but not through any online service. I’ve always used TravelInsurance4Medical who are part of WorldFirst and always had excellent service, they’ve covered me when I couldn’t get insurance from anyone else as I declare 4 conditions of which AF is the least problematic.

I can't wait to start traveling again - I mean that. I'm climbing the walls stuck here.

It's good news that we can all still use our EHIC card in the EU. However it's best to take out full comprehensive insurance too. However you won't be covered unless the FO say it's safe to travel anywhere.

I'm just hoping and hoping I can start again later in the year. I'm already eyeing up a few long haul flights but not just yet. However after the second jab I'll take my chances in the EU with the EHIC.

I said last year March 2021 was my cut off date for traveling again - might still be although I'm in two minds right now.

No worries about getting insurance with afib - it just costs more.

I didn't know that about the EU card. Thanks for mentioning it.

Good news for me. When your EHIC expires you apply for a GHIC (same thing).

It’s not called EHic anymore, they’ve changed it to a new card u apply for called GHic.. due to brexit, it’s pretty much same. You get it online from government site.

Thank you for highlighting this to us. Kind regards Tracy

Hi Tracy meant to say you can still use EHic if it’s valid but once it isn’t you must apply fir this and if you’ve never had one you now apply fir GHicSue

You still use your EHIC until it expires - then it is replaced by the GHIC. Check out the gov.uk site as I can't link to the page here.

Happy holidays (if we ever get away).

It’s not a problem. Most companies will cover AF.

Yes agree but at a price. Saga quote was almost the price of the holiday.

Saga not at all competitive in my experience!

Yup - in that it was double the price. Then we never got to use it...(last year). There are companies that specialise in cover for health conditions if I recall. All seems rather a long time ago right now.

Those of you contemplating holidays - make sure your passport has enough time left on it, 6 months minimum. If not apply now as there's likely to be a rush on it. Make sure your EHIC is up to date too, there is a new version out by the way, and it covers more countries that have signed up for it.

We used Travel Extras when we were cruising back in 2019. Had to declare each precondition. It was around £200 for annual cover for European travel including cruises for the pair of us. My wife declared AF, and hypertension. I gave no known preconditions.

Didn't make a claim so can't say what they would be like if you did need their assistance.

I used worldwideinsure fir an Australia trip but I’d had an ablation.U can get the new revised EHic card from the government site, think it’s called Ghic now or something like that, it’s just for Europe though

Staysure seemed the best bet for me, and they accepted me after a few questions. YMMV since Brexit.

I had a lot of trouble getting a Worldwide insurance. I am older now, 70 and have AFIB, two leaky valves (only slight), hypertension and I have had pulmonary hypertension. I tried lots of companies and nobody would insure me including Staysure. In the end I found AllClear and have been with them for four years. Also my husband had a claim and they laid out very quickly with no quibbles. I will try CDreamers TravelInsurance4Medical as well now.
