Hi has anyone experienced the above in relation to Apixaban. I’m fairly sure I have it, came on quite quickly I noticed it when waking up and put my foot on the floor. Thought at first I had trodden on something but when I looked there was a small lump on the bottom of my foot. It’s been there for three to four weeks and is now getting painful to walk. Any advice please?
Plantar Fasciitis : Hi has anyone... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Plantar Fasciitis
Have you seen or received advice diagnosis from a doctor or soft tissue specialist? I think any lump which persists for more than a few days needs investigation.
I’m going to ring gp today, although I have been trying to steer clear of medical places in the current climate.
My reply would be same as CDreamer . However this could be a verucca. Having suffered with Plantar fasciitis some years ago ( which took a full 12 months to clear) I never had a lump under my foot.
I just rang the surgery, Dr going to ring me back this morning. So hopefully will have more idea soon. What treatment did you have for yours please. I have read it can be side affect of Apixaban, really wish I could come off them.
Where did you read that? I can’t for the life of me see a connection between Apixaban, which by the way I’m really grateful I am taking, and PF?
If you have PF it does require specialist attention and in my experience GP’s don’t help. You need to see a soft tissue rehab specialist or a Podiatrist. But first you need a diagnosis.
I have an appointment at 11.30 so will soon hopefully have a diagnosis. I will try and find the piece with that info in and attach it here. I have been on apixaban for nearly 5 years and not had any after affects I can’t cope with so far.

Very dodgy, just says that a few people out of thousands who take eliquis have plantar fasciitis - no causal link!
I have had planta fasciitis and I didn’t have a lump although I can imagine the tissues bunching up with it. If it is PF I can’t see the link to Apixaban and PF is a very frequent symptom for many structural issues such as knee or hip arthritis (that was what was causing mine). I hope you get it sorted!
Thank you will know soon but it certainly sounds like it.
I had plantar faciitits for a few yeards when my right knee was bad the left foot tended to get the painful symptoms as it was over compensating. I used a rolling pin under the foot regularly and ended up being given a footdrop splint to keep my foot at a right angle when I slept. I never had a lump or anything.
It appears to be a ganglion, never knew you could have them on feet. No particular treatment other than surgery if it gets to be too much of a problem. Painkillers and arch supports /insoles.
Going to make an Appointment with podiatrist as soon as they open next week. Am I convinced????
I developed a large lump on the top of my foot 42 years ago when I was pregnant . Looks like one lump but if I twizzle my foot round it actually is several like a bunch of grapes . Part of it has calcified but part of it swells and becomes painful for a few days if I aggravate it with for example a shoe/ boot that puts pressure on it. A rheumatologist once put a big needle in it and tried to squeeze thick jelly out it was excruciating and got nowhere . So I accept it as part of the changing body landscape . Watching TV the other night I noticed some smaller grapes have appeared on the other foot . At least they ll match ! I obviously pop ganglions easily . Good luck with yours
Thanks, watch this space 😁
I find your post most interesting, both my heels have become very painful since taking Apixaban. It started with them becoming stiff and sore after resting in a chair or overnight but now they are sore most of the time. The only constant medication in this period has been Apixaban. I have mentioned it to a GP and he was looking into the problem but then Covid struck and I haven't been back.
My heels hurt so much that I couldn't lie on my back, a few months ago. After complaining about fatigue my cardiologist suggested that I get a blood test in case it wasn't heart related. After taking vitamin D supplements for the deficiency found, the heel pain went. Still on the Apixaban.
And could this be a Nocebo affect? When we don’t want to be taking a medication I think we can conjure up all sorts of possible links.
The lump might be a heel spur. This is a small growth of bone . They can be very painful ( I had one along with plantar fascitis many years ago. An xray will identify it. Mine was very small and the nurse mocked me for complaining about the pain but actually there is little correlation between size and pain felt!
