l’ve done it again! So fed up.

Just need to have a rant, I’m so annoyed at myself.

I was out at the pub last Saturday afternoon (one glass of wine only) and on the way to the bus stop, I fell off the kerb onto the road. I just knew! The ambulance came quickly, and when I got to the hospital, where I still am, and they took my boot off, my foot fell forward. Have broken both tibia and fibula, and can’t put weight on it for 6 weeks. I have a plaster on, and have to use a zimmer and hop to the toilet, which, I have to say is, for me extremely AF inducing. My husband is not well either, so my son and his friend are bringing a bed downstairs for me and I have a commode from the hospital.

Osteoporosis is a nightmare, but thanks for listening. Xx

Well that was an awful thing to happen and I feel for you. Threemonths ago I fell off a deep pavement running(yes, running) for a bus.I was incredibly lucky and ended up looking as though I had been in a fight but no teeth broken and new specs in tact.Adear girl wanted to call an ambulance but I stopped her and got a cab home.Husband was pretty shocked at the sight of me but....May you heal well and soon.

Oh horrid! These things happen so fast - one minute we're enjoying life and the next we're incapacitated. So don't go beating yourself up over it, in my experience a fall takes only one moment of lost concentration. Find some good books to read and enjoy some TLC from your relatives! And good healing. 🤗

Oh what a pain, literally. I fall more than many, so know that feeling. In fact as I am falling I sometimes say "not again". Do hope things improve quickly.

Sounds awful, I do hope you heal well. I fell full-length very hard on our courtyard paving last night, but luckily the only damage was my pride, furtive checking to see if anyone seen! It happens so easily.

well, I can completely empathise! Last October I had a bad fall and broke ribs and a bone in my spine. Only just fully healed and 2 days ago my ankle went over on a high curbstone and now I have broken bone in my foot and am wearing a special and very uncomfortable medical shoe. I also have AF and osteoporosis. Both falls were because I was rushing and being careless. Story of my life really but now I have osteoporosis I am going to have to rethink how I behave and it is making me feel really old all of a sudden. I am 66 which doesn’t feel old to me. The light in all this is that my recent AF:flutter: tachycardia ablation has kept me clear of AF through it all.

We must try to stay positive and retain as sense of humour through it all I guess. By the way I hadn’t had any alcohol at all prior to either fall so don’t beat yourself up about having a glass of wine. X

😢💞💐 My specialty is hurting my leg - not great at judging distance or just careless……tally so far, hole in leg from mountain bike pedal, permanent bruise from coffee table corner, bruise from heavy case falling on foot, hole and split from corner of open dishwasher door 😤

My mam has done exactly the same thing two weeks ago. Fell off the kerb and broken both tibia and fibula. Plate and screws and a 4 hour operation later. She can’t use the frame though so she’s having to have the clot reducing injections for 6 weeks instead of two as she’s just sitting in chair or lying in bed. This is until her ankle can be x-rayed again to see if she can have a weight bearing boot on or not. Sorry to hear about your accident I hope you recover quickly. ❤️

Cha275rL so sorry for you, what a nightmare - if you hadn’t tried to go out and enjoy yourself this wouldn’t have happened now would it 😂 (only joking) I hope you’re pain is well controlled - make sure you exercise the rest of you as best you can, don’t want any more immobility complications for you. Glad your son and friends are on hand for you, get well soon x

Hi

You will learn that 1 glass of wine is too much.

It's poison to your body and it shows.

Have a jiuce instead or like me prefer grapes via McCoys dark grape juice with no additives.

Alcohol also is AF intrusive.

cheers JOY. 74. (NZ)
