Hi. I have a trapped nerve which has caused 'Foot Drop'. Basically I can't raise my right foot. The pain is awful. I have PAF and take Warfarin, Bisoprolol, Dronedarone, Aspirin. Has anyone been put on nerve pain medication that is suitable with Warfarin. I am seeing my GP later today.

Usual answer here that we are not medically trained so should not comment. What I can say is that Ibupofen is never to be used if you have AF as it well known that is can actually cause AF and of course reacts with Warfarin. Paracetemol and codeine are both OK but obviously talk to your GP and remember that pharmacists know about drug inter action.
Bob, you seem pretty knowledgable about this whole AF thing. My question is this: I am not on any AC right now, I nearly died from a massive bleeding incident 1 1/2 years ago and it was attributed to the fact that I was on aspirin and two blood thinners, one for stents and another for AF. I had been off thinners for about a year when my Cardiologist reccommended I go on Zarelto. As soon as I took it I had bleeding the next day. I skipped a day, then took it again and again bleeding so I stopped on my own. I have Diverticulitis and wonder if that is where the blood originates, I will ask doctor. In your opinion how risky is it for me to be off thinners with PAF? It is controlled by Flecanide and has been months since my last episode. I see a new EP in a month and can get advice then. In my case, as far as I can tell, I feel the episodes when they strike and do not have constant AF that is undetectable for me. I wore a Holter for two weeks and it only recorded anything when I felt it as well. Any advice?
My husband has this so I know how distressing and painful this can be.
As Bob has mentioned do not take ibuprofen type painkillers particularly Naproxen.
I take cocodamol....prescription strength...for occassional knee problems. I'm on warfarin as well. You will have to see your GP who should doubtless be able to give you something.
I do hope you get some relief soon.

Doctor has given me Amitripyline 10mg. I have taken them previously, but before my PAF. Perhaps I shouldn't have read the package leaflet! "Do not take Amitriptyline, and tell your doctor if you .........have irregular heartbeats........taking medicines to treat an irregular heart beat - Dronedarone ".
Guess he knows best. I'll see how it goes.
If you are taking Dronedarone and Amitryptiline together then i tjink you should contact your pharmacist or GP to confirm that this is a safe combination. You should always read the leaflet accompanying your drugs . If it says don't mix these two drugs you should obtain clarification.
I know we shouldn't give advice on drugs but a certain degree of proactivity should be put into action by patients and that includes reading the drug instruction leaflets and acting upon anything which causes concern.
Let us know what transpires!
More info on that please? I also have a trapped nerve and can't even take cocodamol, so any suggestions welcome.
Hi. I did speak to the Pharmacist at the surgery. She has told me not to take Amitriptyline with Dronedarone. She is to do some research for me and will ring me back.
Is it ok to use a TENS machine if you have PAF?
I was prescribed pregabalin for nerve pain in my foot. I too was on Warfarin plus a host of other heart meds. I had no reaction (apart from weight gain) but it sorted the pain and greatly assisted my anxiety problem.
