A couple of weeks ago, following what I though was a particularly persistent episode of flutter, I posted asking about treatment options on our forum. My heart rate was bouncing around anywhere from 60 to low 90s. My medications had been increased by my EP but since there was no improvement after a week, my EP's nurse practitioner saw me in the office. Since I have a pacemaker for bradycardia, she was able to determine that I now have complete heart block. For now, they are treating me with increased flecainide and metoprolol and I have an appointment with my EP in a month. The nurse practitioner mentioned seeing a cardiac surgeon but was somewhat vague when I pressed her further about this. Has anyone dealt with complete heart block and, if so, what treatment did you receive and how is your quality of life? I'm feeling very anxious and scared about this new diagnosis.
