How bad are your ectopics?
Nothing prevents it but CO Q10 is very helpful in general for us as we age. Been taking it for 20 or more years.
Thanks Bob. I’m probably looking for something that isn’t there. Just wonder if a maintenance dose of flec will reduce or prevent ectopics
CoQ10 is an essential enzyme which microcondria require to produce energy. Every cell in the body requires energy, especially muscle and heart is muscle. I have taken 100-200mg daily for 15 years now and certainly notice the difference if I stop taking it for a week or so. Most cardiologists would endorse taking CoQ10 - especially if you take statins as they reduce body’s ability to produce CoQ10.
So yes it is a good supplement to take but don’t expect it to directly help your ectopics or AF, certainly in the short term. You would need to take it for about 6-8 weeks before you would notice any differnce and for me, I noticed I didn’t get as tired.
Hi. Just wondering, can you just take these or would I need to clear with my cardiologist first. Also, does it matter what brand you take as Tesco have an offer on them at the moment........90 x100mg capsules for £8.75 on a 3 for 2. Thank you.
I was advised to take my cardiologist but you don’t need to clear with anyone, talk to your pharmacist if you are unsure.
My philosophy is to only buy supplements which are manufactured to pharmaceuticals standards so I don’t buy from the high street - Lambert’s - as mentioned below, Solgar, Nature’s Aid are all brands I trust. I would expect to pay circa £20? for 30x100mg capsules. I tend to buy 90 x 100 capsules = £40.
Beware - always look for ‘active ingredient’ dose as many less ethical high street companies use a lot of fillers in their supplements.
Thank you for your reply and advice. Just out of interest, I had a look at the ingredients of Tesco and Lamberts and they are not dissimilar.......
Tesco Sunflower oil, gelatin, glycerol, plain caramel(colour), co enzyme Q10, silicon dioxide and thiamine (Vit B1).
Lamberts Sunflower seed oil, gelatin, glycerol, iron oxide (colour), co enzyme Q10, sunflower lecithin and glycerol monostearate.
These were both for 100mg and the only things on the lists (no individual amounts of each substance.
So, may give the cheaper one a bash. 😊
Obviously your choice.
It’s not the ingredient list I was getting out but how they are produced. Are they using the right blenders to get equal amounts into each capsule? Is the production line one that is thoroughly cleaned before moving to another product to avoid contamination? Does the factory have adequate air filtration for such manufacture? Supermarkets will not manufacture themselves, they will factor out and that maybe even subcontracted out again. I couldn’t seen anything on the Tesco site other than ‘Produced in the UK’ which is not enough information for me.
Definitely try it, my Naturopath treats his AF patients with that & a magnesium compound. I have been doing that for 6 years - I can't attribute my improved QOL directly to it but happy to keep taking it because no known side effects & generally of use post 60yo.
