Does anyone know the best dose of Q10 to help with AF? All help and advice greatly appreciated. This is my first post - broken my duck now! Thanks to all who post on here - I have found a lot of help and reassurance.

Hi Mrssmp,

For me it was 150 - 200mg / day (advised by a naturopath). I'm currently on 200mg. If you want to consider taking it, would be worth seeing a naturopath or similar to work out whether there is anything in your medical history that might make it different for you.

I take 200mg daily but that is for energy as I do not know of any real science to say it helps AF.

Thanks Bob, for replying. I could certainly do with some more energy. It's hard to know whether all the different supplements actually do any good or not, but I feel I have to try!.

My Naturopath put me on 200mg/day and also important I believe is the brand which is Lamberts. He balanced this by putting me on a Magnesium supplement with other good stuff included (Nutri Ultra Muscleze). The rationale was the Mg relaxes the heart and the Q10 beefs it up - apologies very layman terms.

Hi Orchardworker

Many thanks for taking the time to reply. I have looked up Lamberts, and am now looking up Nutri Ultra Muscleze. I am already taking magnesium. Don't apologise for the layman terms!

I'm with Orchardworker on this, brand is very important, I'm with Lamberts 100mg per day.

A recent edition of Trust Me I'm a Doctor, still available on iPlayer went through various health products and supplements and found that many did not contain any of the stated product. I don't know if Q10 was one of the featured ones,

Thanks seasider18 , I'll have a look at that. I know the supplement market is a minefield, without much regulation, but what can you do? I feel I have to try!

The problem is that on the internet people buy things from abroad that are not on general sale here. Melatonin for example is only available here on prescription for short term use and is expensive but can be bought dirt cheap online.

Dear Sandra,

No problem, happy to help. I started with Lamberts 100mg (their best seller, they have 3 different strengths) about 6 weeks ago.

I have found in that short time that I have more energy.

Best Wishes

Barry

Thanks orchardworker. With your 200 mg a day for Coenzyme Q10, what was your intake of Magnesium (Mg) daily? Also which sort of Mg? I am on Mg taurate.
