Magnesium helps but I still take a small dose of beta blockers (and had ablations).

Yes, eating natural foods without any additives can really help. I also take magnesium glycinate, vitamin B12, timed release vitamin C and and D3 liquid.

Still in AF, but it's much milder now.

Life style changes work well for many people.

That’s what I’ve been told by the cardiologist. And although I know losing some weight and quit smoking would be very beneficial to my health. I asked the cardiologist if that’s the case then how do you explain my two relatives who also have it and are in perfectly good health exercise daily eat all the right foods do not drink or smoke and there A fib is just as bad as mine if not worse at times. Go figure

Studies show that reducing weight and avoidance of alcohol *may* reduce the burden of AF for some people-nothing is guaranteed. Also, as Jean says, certain foods can act as triggers -chocolates, sugary foods and spicy foods are often implicated. But how effective modification of diet is will vary from person to person, and different people have different triggers. I would say that stopping smoking is essential for pretty well any heart condition (or even if you don’t have one).

I know smoking is my worst enemy, I also know I must defeat it. But then comes Weight gain. It’s like a never ending war.So I guess It’s one victory at a time. What a mess I made for myself.

I would say that you should discuss with your doctor the concerns you have about weight gain if you stop smoking. It’s definitely a challenge, but if you could make the changes the prize might be considerably reduced AF (although, once again, there are no guarantees).

Hi there daddyrabbit. As a trained hypnotherapist, lifestyle coach and stop smoking specialists & fellow afibber, stopping smoking & weight gain only goes hand in hand when you replace one habit {smoking} with another {food}. So it’s about working to replace the old unhealthy habit with a new healthy one. Easy! I have changed my lifestyle completely since afib, weight, diet, alcohol, exercise, wellbeing & I still get afib but boy do I feel better!

Bad luck or bad choice of parents!

I'm skin, fit, healthy diet and don't smoke. I think mine is due to a hereditary genetic disorder. So blame my mum, god bless her 😆

A Fib can run in families. I think it does in mine. Definitely give up the smoking👍🏻

My dad was a heavy smoker, passed at 50, combination of smoking, stress and being over weight. His sister was 67, stroke. His mother was paralysed with strokes.

I am grateful to AF for forcing me to drop all my bad lifestyle habits. I would never have done this without it. Too many changes to list but Mindfulness, regular walking, reducing all forms of stress and taking selected supplements plus avoiding triggers that start AF are near the top of the recommendations I would make.

Me too

Is magnesium supplement natural? Mine went away that night after taking it...only came back once when I was away and didn't bring my magnesium and another time I got dehydrated I had some wubbles and thuds and drops...but didn't stop beating since I took it. I took some ceyene but I haven't any left for a blood thinning effect which may have done something...or it might have been just generally taking care to stay hudrated..my blood was like a slug in my veins during the bad time and after a while of being careful and cayenee tea and herbal teas and soups etc magnesium it stopped looking like a darks lug crawling and was just staying in my veins which was nice. Everything I'm going to do from here on in will be natural as it can be. Having read the people on here who have medications and surgeries and etc I intend to keep all that at bay for as long as possible by making sure I adeess every possible cause...low iron b12 magnesium and all the other things that are good for me. I'm just gonna nourish the hell out msuelf with good food nice pleasant experiences and just everything nourishing ...the ecoerience of realising something so simple could cause such a big issue has imprinted on me how important the little things are. and forgetting them consistently over time can lead to such big things. I've also learned about a lot of other things from my childhood diet and lifestyle that have been lacking all my life. I'm generally just malnourished and seems like a lot of chronic things I've struggled with ...could be down to how badly I've taken care of myself in my ignorance. I did it to myself ..born with a perfect heart and didn't tske care of it. I know I'm lucky as some are born with problems they can't fix ..and some have gone so far down the road the damage is done. So I can only hope I can reverse my neglect of myself. Naturally. Of not I'll cross that road when it comes.
