RFAblation and Pacemaker

Can you have a radiofrequency ablation for afib (not AV node ablation) if you have a pacemaker (Medtronic 2017)? The PM is for sick sinus syndrome tacky brady?

My afib is managed with Flecainide, Diltiazem and Xarelto but the EP wants to do an ablation, didn't say what kind of ablation.

My cardiologist told me I could but I should think your EP should know.

Hi, I had an RF ablation 2 years ago for AFIB with a Medtronic Pacemaker. It is an older model than yours (2014) but MRI compatible. There was no problem, although I seem to remember the PM was turned off during the intervention. I’m now only on an anticoagulant (Eliquis) and a statin. Huge improvement in energy level after stopping bisoprolol 3 months after the ablation and no recurrence of AFIB either. May it continue 🙏

By the time I had my second ablation I already had a pacemaker. It was adjusted before and after the procedure whilst in the cath lab and presented no problems.
