Sinus tachycardia causes?

I've had some unexplained sinus tachycardia at the moment which is under investigation. I've had to have a month off work so far because I work in healthcare and untill we know what's causing this I can't look after patients which I understand. However I'm scratching my head at of there's any ideas any one has?

I've had normal routine bloods which are normal, thyroid normal, d-dimer normal, iron levels normal, magnesium normal. Chest X ray clear and an echocardiogram where the only outcome is my tachycardia of 140bpm at rest.

I've had persistent tachycardia since November. Ranging from 120s-150s resting.

I've got a 24 hr tape on Wednesday. But fear I'll just get the response sinus tachycardia which we know already and told again I can't work until diagnosis is found.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or tests I can request? I'm keen to go back work asap!!

Just to add I'm only in my 20s, no other health issues and had an ECG in 2018 which showed 70bpm so this a new thing which got picked up by GP.

It does not matter the cause (Hint: most causes are unknown). The good news is that there is an easy/quick solution & quick recovery: an ablation.

I had Atrial Tachycardia and it was to a great extent resolved with an ablation.

My EP said it was easier to treat than ablation for AF.

Pete, was your tachy persistent and for how long before your EP decided to ablate ?

I had Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation for many years and then had 6 ablations to address my long term problems. My problem was adjudged to be a very difficult condition to treat.

After the last ablation my heart developed Atrial Tachycardia. I had a resting heart rate over 125bpm and I was like that for about 3 months before I was given an ablation which did the trick.

My EP said that he was unhappy to leave me in Tachycardia as being in that condition for any long period was detrimental to my heart.

Watch out for any of the dyes in your food Red 40 is notorious for causing severe palpitations. Write down all ingredients of your food and check them each time you have an episodes. They are putting a lot of dyes in yogurt now so watch out for that anything that has color check the ingredients for dyes.
