From svt to sinus tachycardia

I had ablation for AVNRT in September. I had episodes about 3 times a year. My heart rate would get into 260-280. Since my ablation I have not had heart rates that high but now suffer from sinus tachycardia a few times a week. I also have triggers that I did not have before. Am I the only person experiencing this? I feel my doctor is brushing this off as anxiety (which I never had before). Is this common with anyone else? It worries me that he has messed my heart up :(

I am in the process of a second opinion.

Hi, I haven’t had my ablation yet so I can’t answer your question but I have read lots of stories on here of people going through ablation and then needing a second or even more to deal with other arrhythmias that reveal themselves further down the line. Have you been back to see your EP? Could you contact his secretary to tell him how you feel? Do you take medication? Sounds like you’re doing the right thing seeking a second opinion. I hope you get some answers soon and hopefully someone here will have more experience than me and can help you more 😊

I have been back to him, he discounts my concerns. I cannot take metoprolol he prescribed because my body is now so low. It's crazy!

You could do with a monitor to see what’s actually happening. In the absence of a Kardia or any other device I started taking my pulse on my phone using an app, the doctor and a&e have checked the accuracy of it and it was perfect. I managed to record svt of 220 and it at least gave me something to show the doctor. I also called the EP secretary and asked for a monitor I had to push and push and push, calling everyday begging for help and in the end my persistence paid off, I got a 7 day monitor and luckily caught an episode. I really think that if you are feeling worse than you were before you need to see if you can have anymore treatment, you might need to try and gather as much evidence as you can and tell the doctor that it’s having an impact on your quality of life. The aim of an ablation is not to make the situation worse and it seems like you have been treated and signed off even though you are still feeling bad. Let us know what happens with the second opinion, I hope you get somewhere soon 😊

Thank you! That's my thought, I do not feel better. It's been a very stressful 6 months. I am waiting for my family dr to get my a referral to a new EP. I will definitely keep updated on here.

Please do, I can imagine how stressful and scary It must have been to come out the other side of an ablation and feel worse and then not have your concerns explained or investigated further is awful.
