Link between AF ablation and sinus tachycardia

Good afternoon everyone, today it's been 10 months since I had my ablation. For now everything is fine, I am not in AFIB anymore and I didn't have any episode since October 2018.

But, last month I started to experiment some other issues. The main issue is sinus tachycardia, one day in a week I started to have my heartbeat up to 90, then 100 then 110 at rest. It is not as high as some of you but to me it is disturbing. I start to feel anxious but not enough to have a panic attack, and when I have this kind of crises I realize I can do nothing I have to pee multiple times during the crises and I need to wait.

My resting heart rate is basically between 70-78 and when I have a tachycardia episode and I take Bisoprolol+flecaine my resting heart rate is also between 70-78 so it doesn't change anything about my heart rate if I take my pill or not.

I'll see my cardiologist next Monday to have more information about it and to try to understand why this is happening. If you experienced such a thing don't hesitate to send me a message.

Have a good day,

Julien

I'm similarly around 10months following my 2nd ablation and so far have not had another major PAF attack. But since the ablation I have experienced runs of ectopics occasional very rapid (like a machine gun) heart beats that last around a minute and can repeat a few times in the hour or so following.

I also experience sinus tachycardia (according to my Kardia device) where like you I can be doing anything including sitting reading and get a sudden surge of heart rate from a normal 75bpm to 100 - 115bpm. This can go on for an hour or two and leaves me exhausted. My specialist team don't appear concerned but it is messing up my life (work have got rid of me on ill health grounds). Unsure if it also relates to the continuing chest/jaw pain and breathlessness that I experience often when walking. I'm very glad that the major PAF attacks appear to have gone but the lack of ability to walk far or exercise and constant tiredness/dizziness are really messing up my life.

This is exactly what I'm talking about! I have sinus tachycardia too and it is not above 110/115 but I am exhausted at the end. I'll talk to my cardiologist about it tomorrow and keep you in touch.

Hello! I had my appointment today and my cardiologist explained to me that the ablation process could affect some nerve related to resting heart rate system. According to him if you are under 110 BPM and your crisis are not regular you don't have to worry about. But, if your lifestyle is changed and you are not comfortable with it you should definitely see your cardiologist to record you heart activity when you are upper 100/110 BPM, if you are experiencing constant tiredness don't hesitate!
