Hi All

Was in A and for 5 hours on Thursday as he had high HR and dreadful back pain. Lots of aches and pains.

He had AF ablation x 2 in 2006/7 the second one being successful. He has become increasingly unwell and lost a stone and a half over 2 mrhs. He finds if he eats too much it puts his HR up. It happened yesterday after only eating small salad meal. He has had about 5 attacks like this and feels very unwell. He is still on warfarin and bisoprolol. A and E told him tovincrease bisoprol to 1.5 x 2 and come off any tablets he felt he didnt need. The A and E suggested he could have atrial flutter but ECG and X ray normal. Told heart looked great on X ray. Bloods and electrolytes normal. He is allergic to many drugs and started back on Bendroflumethiazide a few days ago which he thinks could be causing his severe low backache on one side. The imapradine he had been put on also caused severe reaction as do most antibiotics. His sister is very allergic to steroids and ADs too so must be a family trait.

They have said they will get GP to organise 7 day tape and echocardiogram but this could take some time as Cardiology very behind at our local hospital!

Saturday evening:

I came home from sister in law's 70th which hubby didnt feel like going to find he had to call ambulance again! They too thought it was atrial flutter as opposed to AF. Again he had eaten a couple of plain buscuits and his heart rate went up straight after. Whilst on the phone for the ambulance he said his left hand had a slight tingling sensation but soon went and he felt he was slurring his words and couldnt get them out. HE was shivering which was probably shock related. He was quite normal when I got home and HR had gone down of course. ECG was normal as was pulse and everything else. They didnt think he needed to be in hospital. We feel this is more of a gastric issue as it always seems to happen after he eats, so we are convinced its more gastric related. He has been on FODMAP diet, but he is now afraid to eat anything which is not helping with the weight of course. Doc didnt make much of the weight loss when we saw her last week.

Anyone else had this?, advice welcome.

Thank you.

Well the bit about stopping any tablets he didn't think necessary....! Not very professional. It does sound like a gastric thing, but of course no-one on here is able to give advice, it is only our experiences that we share. I honestly do think you should start again with perhaps a new GP and new cardiologist, a new EP and also perhaps a gastroenterologist. Not easy I know as it all takes time, but despite all the tests, x-rays, ecg, etc it's not putting your mind at ease, nor making him well and it is still not knowing why this is happening. I do wish your husband well and hope everything is sorted out asap. Best wishes
