One would normally have the PM fitted - then once it was established that everything was in working order - consider having the AV node ablation.

I went down this route, I have had the PM fitted and am waiting for the 6 week check. After that my doctors and I will make the decision as to whether I would benefit from the AV node ablation but it looks as though the PM is having such a positive affect that I will pass on the AV node ablation unless and until the AF becomes too symptomatic again for me but AV node ablation means you are completely PM dependant so it will be a last resort and one I would prefer not to take, if at all avoidable.

If you put AV node ablation in the search box - it will filter all threads with AV node ablation in the title. Most people, but not all, seem to benefit.

Thank you that is very helpful. At the moment I feel quite well on Dilitiazem 90 mg. And hovering about having the AV node done. Not great to be on meds forever though. Many thanks.

Hi I had a pacemaker 18 months ago, very much improved. Immediately after I had hiccups in my side. They put on the testing machine made alterations and the hiccups went immediately. Good luck
