Breathless when walking on any medication. Is there a medication that doesn't make one breathless?

Are you on Bisoprolol? That makes a lot of people breathless. Nebivolol much better.

It might be worth discussing Digoxin with your GP. I believe this tends to make the heart beat more strongly. It’s not so good at slowing the heart if you are an active person, but your beta blocker does that and I believe they can go well together sometimes.

You asked about a pacemaker previously, do you have one?

Thank you for your reply. I am on Nebivolol 2.5 mg but it hasn't helped and I am still breathless and constant A.F. Thank you for your suggestion.

I meant to say that I have also tried Digoxin 125 mic but no luck and left me breathless on walking.

Agree about bisoprolol - I was changed to Nebivolol and the effect was to curb the breathlessnes and its side effects. I believe Nebivolol does not act on the lungs, only the heart as a beta blocker.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried Nebivolol 2.5mg and also Digoxin and I am still breathless on both particularly when I go for a walk, also constant A.F.

May I ask what your GP thinks is causing your breathlessness? Is it definitely your heart?

Have you had a full physical work up including blood tests, ecg, chest X-ray and echocardiogram?

Are you taking an anticoagulant? Have you been tried on a diuretic?

Thank you for a quick reply. I have had all that you suggested blood tests etc. and it has been suggested that I have an ablation even though I have a pacemaker. Thought of it worries me. I am on apixaban I haven't tried a diuretic.

You originally asked whether there was any medication that didn't make one breathless. I used to take bisoprolol (as I see you did) and this had so many unpleasant side effects that I was then prescribed Diltiazem (a slow release calcium channel blocker which I was advised to take at night). I have had none of the side effects that I know that others (eg BobD ) have experienced and whilst I still experience some mild breathlessness especially if walking uphill things are much better than when I was taking bisoprolol. I don't know whether a calcium channel blocker rather than a beta blocker might suit you better, nor indeed whether it might be suitable for your own condition?

Thank you CaroleF that is most helpful and will suggest this to my doctor. I have wondered if apixaban caused breathlessness has anyone heard of this?

I take apixaban, but I haven't associated this with my own breathlessness since it was stopping the bisoprolol/starting diltiazem that seemed to improve the situation somewhat. However it remains true that it is unwise to assume that everyone reacts to the same medication in the same way/s. One only has to read posts here to know that people's reactions can be very different.
