I'm 61 year old with A-Fib under control thanks to two successful ablations. I will be taking Xarelto for the rest of my life (I'm told). My nurse-midwife (GYN) noticed I was in pain due to sciatica. I explained I'm getting physical therapy and working through it. She recommended CUR Q10, the version with Turmeric.
I would appreciate any input you can offer me on the combination of these drugs. Of course I would be delighted to reduce inflammation pain but at what cost?
Thanks from New Jersey, by the way -17 degrees last night!

Sciatica can be very painful. Glad you are getting physical therapy. Be sure to do your exercises everyday! I would check with your cardiologist or EP before taking anything with Turmeric in it. Turmeric can also thin the blood, and although using it in cooking does not seem to be an issue, taking it as a supplement could be a problem with Xarelto.
Tumeric will help reduce inflammationa which may be around the affected area, I can’t say it won’t have an affect on the anti-coagulant because I’m not qualified but I can say that I load Tumeric into daily diet and have no ill affects - I checked with my Pharmacist and there is not evidence that it interacts with anti-coagulants - unlike a few other foods.
I suffered from Sciatica for many years, took NSAIDs which probably gave me AF. I rarely have it now due to regular Chiropractic adjustments and daily exercises. Once it disappeared I found I had to keep up the exercises otherwise it returns but Pilates helps to correct the postural imbalance which caused it in the first place. I still do daily exercises.
I also take CoQ10 daily - but that helps the heart, not sure how it will affect the sciatica?
There is good quality evidence that turmeric can enhance the effects of warfarin (As can CoQ10) although what is less clear is how much turmeric you need to ingest to have a clinically significant anticoagulant effect.
I can find less evidence for the NOACS such as Xarelto.
I'm not a medical expert but I strongly suggest you seek advice from a dietician or EP
