Hi everyone, it’s the newby again. So a week later and I have taken all your advice and just been to see the GP. Had a small episode whilst getting dressed heart rate went to 133bpm. Doctor said my chest was clear I said it must just be the procedure.
She wants me in tomorrow for an ECG because she said my heart rate is fluttering between 110 - 120 whilst I’m resting. I’ve told her how tired I am and she said it may be the anxiety of everything I’ve had done.
Not sure to be honest. Just don’t feel like people understand this and it’s a bit under estimated. Not sure if anyone agrees?

Yes,I do feel people think we are exaggerating our symptoms, saying things like,oh my heart goes faster when I drink Expresso....etc.Also GPs and even some cardiologist s are woefully ill informed.😡😡
100% another one is oh I get palpitations when I have a bit of anxiety. I spent years thinking it was just anxiety and just knew something wasn’t right. One of my worst attacks when I ended up in A&E was when I just literally picked my post up by the door. If my main GP hadn’t have helped me I would be in a lot worse position now.
Hi Amy. You can be sure that a-fib is hard to understand from the point of view of someone that doesn’t have it. I had an a-fib attack (yes, I’m calling it an attack as it was horrendous) 6 days after my ablation which then turned into a-flutter, which I’ve never experienced before. I wound up in the ER. The nurse practitioner to the EP got in touch with me and assured me that it was a result of inflammation of the heart after my ablation. However, I didn’t have the same type of ablation that you had. I hope you’ll be feeling better in no time. I’m exactly 14 days out and I truly feel better than I ever have in my life. Even as a child, I had extra beats so this is amazing.
Aw you sound like you’ve had a terrible time. Glad your on the right side of it now you are giving me hope that I will start to feel better soon. I still feel like I’ve been hit by a truck.
Aw brilliant I can’t wait. Just want a better quality of life. I don’t intend to go back to work for a while going to give myself time to heal and build myself back up. 💕
Oh gosh yes Amy, I too felt completely zapped of energy for quite a long time after my cryoablation. Also I had a kind of " brain freeze" in that concentrating for longer periods of time was impossible, even socially ,or at work .,I had the dreaded zig zag migraines for 3 weeks afterward as well and felt as though all my upper body strength had literally been zapped out of me for months...
Don't rush back to anything . The EP I had was very supportive and gave me a six weeks sick certificate as I am a teacher and would never have coped going back into the classroom. In the end I took a term off and don't regret it. ( obviously much easier to do if a public sector worker) I have now retired only at end of August but, am still AF free after two and a half years so take ❤️ You will get there, but I followed wise words from people on this site, listened to my body. Very important if one is a bit more sensitive to ❤️ Freezing then others. We are all different for sure! It is fabulous being AF free at the moment and everyday still feels wonderful to wake up to knowing I can reach for a glass on the top shelf and the beast does not "kick in"!
Good luck and I wish you a good recovery, if all bit a bit slower than you expected.
Thankyou Sarah your comments are really helpful. It’s good to know I’m not the only one feeling like this. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I’ve found this forum so much more helpful than the hospital to be honest.
It’s 5 years since I had mine and although I’ve forgotten the details I had an awful lot of arrhythmias after my ablation and felt weak and breathless. It took 5 months for everything to get better but boy, was it worth it!! It also took almost a year for resting heartbeat to return to pre ablation rate. So take heart and try to stay positive. I am still af free.
