Cardio workout whilst sleeping

I know my Fitbit doesn’t accurately record my heart rate whilst in AFib but this is a first - it looks like my heart was partying hard last night whilst I was sleeping (I had some pretty vivid dreams). Since my ablation 10 days ago I’ve had a couple of high spikes during the night which I never had beforehand. I woke up in sinus rhythm after 7 1/2 hours sleep but was rather warm.

I know it’s early days so I’m not panicking but I am having daily AFib episodes of up to 2 hours. My Kardia shows the HR up to 165 and on the Fitbit it’s always a lot lower so I’m not sure what the true rate was last night. Hopefully it settles down soon.

I once had a heart monitor fitted for a full week and it picked up a long episode of AF in the night on the 4th day. I was totally unaware of it.

I am surprised that you were not woken by the need to empty your bladder as I can now recognise impending AF by the Niagara Falls.

I am quite sure that many AF episodes are never recognised.

I definitely feel every change with my heart during the day. The only other night I know I had a crazy heart was in April when I had my first AFlutter episode. We were away for a wedding and I was up at the loo about 5 times that night and the next- and then I ended up in hospital for a cardio version.

It also causes me to have to empty often, then I have to drink to stay hydrated as sometimes if rate is higher I perspire too!

I’m only thinking aloud Kaz but I wonder if you ought to keep your Fitbit locked in a drawer overnight. I remember when I was first diagnosed I bought a BP machine and became fairly obsessive. One of the volunteers here (not BobD) suggested that I should lock it in the shed at the end of the garden and let my wife hide the key! Turned out to be very good advice!

Kaz I agree with Flapjack. Stop monitoring yourself and try and get on and enjoy life. What will be will be and constant checking only increases stress and anxiety.

Hi Flapjack and Bob, I’m not stressing. I track my sleep and steps during the day with the Fitbit. I don’t take too much notice of the heart rates as I know their not accurate when in AFib. I just thought it was interesting that it was going crazy last night whilst I was sleeping.

We have a fan on 365 nights of the year and the air conditioner is summer. Being menopausal doesn’t help 😉

Get yourself a GPS tracker. Maybe you were having a jog around the bedroom ;-)

I’m hoping the time in fat burn and cardio can help me shed some weight at the very least 😀

Like you have a Fitbit and spend a lot of time in fat burn. I should be really skinny, but am I heck. Waiting for the Apple 4 then I can really play Drs and nurses!
