I started an A Fib episode last night and this morning was still in a fib. Pulse never went higher than 120. But today I was in a fib all day and it is now 9:23 pm and still a fibbing. Blood pressure this morning was 107/79 with 77 pulse. Just checked it and now it is 90/73 with pulse of 96. Have never experienced blood pressure this low while in A fib before so thought I would see what others have experienced. I am currently taking Eliquis and Coreg plus hydrochlorothiazide.

Low blood pressure while in AFib
I would skip tonight's dose of hydrochlothiazide. The last thing you need is to be hypovolemic. Your potassium should be checked. Your Coreg dose may have to be adjusted. If you are symptomatic you should go to ED a+e
Thanks for replying. I just checked blood pressure again and it is now 130/90. Don’t know what triggered this a fib. I just took an anxiety pill and going to bed and am hoping it will revert back to NSR soon. Had to look up hypovolemic as I had never heard of that although I worry about that since I am on a blood thinner. I recently switched from Pradaxa to Eliquis and now wondering if I should have stayed with the Pradaxa.
The difference between Eliquis and Pradcaca should not effect it. They make it harder for your blood to clot and work similarly. There is an outside chance that you could have unrecognized bleeding from your GI tract and this would give you los blood volume. Hydroclorothiazide is a diuretic that makes you pee and can reduce blood volume. It can also cause low potassium. if you are not having symtoms such as dizziness, weakness, blacking out, a little fluid and checking your BP in both arms should suffice along with your normal doc's check up. Best of luck..
Blood pressure fluctuates a lot with afib, also measurement by electronic devices is not always accurate. I read somewhere you should check on both arms and use higher one for hypertension ( don't know about low blood pressure) also when in AF some suggest average of three recordings.
My OH can have a variation of 30mm/ hg between arms at times!!
Hi Flaka
When in AF we often pass a lot of urine and can become a little dehydrated. A low blood pressure reading can sometimes be caused by the body lacking fluids and a simple remedy for this is to drink some water to help raise it again.
Best wishes
Jean
Jean is right here....take a bit more fluid on-board. Low blood pressure is defined when either the systolic (upper) figure or diastolic (lower) figure is below 90/60. Mine very often falls below either but is not sustained for long periods so told not to worry.
When well my systolic BP is about 120.... when unwell and in AF it has been as low as 80 systolic.
My BP usually goes up with AFib but the last couple of days my BP has been low anyway (must be the new drug regime). Even though I’ve been in AFib for a few hours today my BP is only 85/69 (It was 104/75 this morning so I decided not to take my BP medication). Hopefully the BP will be a bit higher tomorrow.
Thanks to all who replied. Seems blood pressure can fluctuate when in A AFib. Glad I found this site as it helps to talk to people that have similar problems. Thank goodness I had a good nights sleep and back in NSR this morning.
