Lovely to meet everyone - evidently I’m not quite what SOME people thought I would be like

Looks like a nice turn-out. ..... but where’s the food!!!!!! 🤣

Inside us!!!

Where are you CD? I only recognise Flapjack.

PS - now that I've looked on my ipad and enlarged the photo I'm doing better and have found Bob. I think Jeannie may be second on the left?

Perhaps people who want to be identified will respond and point themselves out.

I was behind the camera.....

in reply toCDreamer

Well, that's cheating!

CDreamer profile image

Correct - I’ll let people identify themselves I think.

Yes, that's me.

Now let's have some names to the pics...this is just teasing us. I recognise Jean and Bob!

It was lovely to meet up with people that until today I’ve only communicated with via the forum. It makes such a difference to be able to put faces to names. And as well as the serious conversation (and the food of course)

we had a giggle!

Thank you to Jean and Bob for arranging it.

It was lovely to meet you Val and just a shame that the time there went so quickly. The giggles were the best bit!

Agree with all of the above , a very enjoyable morning ( but where was the toast ? Lol ! ) Thank you Jean .

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50 in reply toGrannySmithgs5

If there is a next time, I'll find out exactly what food we can expect. I did think about complaining that there wasn't any toast, but don't want spoil the good feeling I have of the event. The hotel is lovely and so convenient to get to, with the railway station almost opposite. Perhaps next time we'll have lunch there?

Jean

Lunch would be a great idea.

Oh no don't spoil a happy morning it was a tongue in cheek comment anyway ........I for one shouldn't be eating toast , covered in lashings of butter and marmalade ( drool ) lol !!!!

Lovely to meet everyone, well done to jeanjeannie for sorting it out for us.

jeanjeannie50 in reply toJay10

Thank you for joining us Jay, it was lovely to meet you. Like me you're just like your forum photo. The time went by so quickly didn't it! We'd hardly sat down and then it was suddenly time to go.

It was well worth the journey to meet everyone. Thank you for a fun and informative morning.

It was lovely to meet you on the train going to Exeter, Pam. Thank you for travelling so far to join us.

Lovely to meet and chat to you, Jackie

Since I'm in the US and BobD forgot to send his private jet to pick me up I'd love to know who's who. Will someone put names to faces in the picture? I wish I were close enough to attend these gatherings and I would fit right in. Short old lady with short grey hair and a little chubby.

It looks like a good time was had by all! Lots of smiles. Did you have drinks first? 😁

I can't believe Bob didn't send his private jet to pick up our lovely Irina. I'll have a word with him!!

We're leaving everyone who came, to identify themselves as some may wish to remain anonymous. May have some famous people among us, who knows!

Jean

in reply tojeanjeannie50

Thank you, Jean. Does Bob need a time out?😣

What a great turn out! Looks like you had a good time.

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50 in reply toCaroleF

We had a lovely time and Flapjack was very entertaining from the moment he arrived in Devon. The day before, while he and his wife were visiting the town where I live, he sent me a text with his cheeky opinion of the place without saying who it was from. I just knew it was him! Don't know why, but I did!

Jean

I'm third from left, Jean is opposite me and GrannySmith is extreme left. Flapjack is trying to be a thorn between two roses. I will let others identify themselves if they want to.

It looks like you all had a good time :-)

It must have been interesting to put faces to names though I guess it might have been a bit like forming impressions of what people on the radio look like only to find they are quite different in the flesh :-)

jeanjeannie50 profile image
jeanjeannie50 in reply todoodle68

Hi Doodle, Yes it was so fascinating to meet everyone. Bob, Flapjack, CDreamer and Carneuny the people I'd had most contact with on the forum and via PM were nothing at all like I expected! All of them were so much younger looking and less serious. The whole group all had one thing in common a good sense of humour.

who is who in the photo starting from the lady in pink who is next to her and who is opposite i didnt get that private jet to pick me up either New Zealand isnt that far away is it?

CDreamer profile image
CDreamer in reply tofairgo45

Well next time we’ll arrange a whip round for the jet..... no pre breakfast drinks before as it was morning and Exeter being a University town and it being Freshers week I doubt there was much to be had. Flapjack was coffe monitor and the shopping afterwards was productive so all in all, it was a good. Maybe next year?

Completely beside the point but, my son is a doctor in Whangarei.

This is not really purely a reply to CDreamer. Your get together yesterday looked fun, certainly not a group of poorly looking people! I notice on past posts there were get togethers in London, as there are none in the Cambridge area, I would very much like to come to one of these! Is there one planned?

CDreamer profile image
CDreamer in reply toLuludean

These are very informal get together, no-one is co-ordinating them so if you want why don’t you simply put up a post to see if there are any like minded people in the Cambridge area who would like to meet up, find a venue, Day & time and go for it?

Luludean profile image
Luludean in reply toCDreamer

You are right!

I will, I am such a sloth sometimes.. I like sharing responsibilities .

With winter coming a project is good to have, got an exhibition of paintings to prepare too. And( I know you should not start a sentence with and but....) a new huge shed arriving today , so exciting.

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, It was put on the forum twice for all to see, perhaps you don't look at the site too often? There's no other way to let people know about meeting up other than putting it here. Do you live in Devon? Would have loved to have met you.
