A few people going through a rough week this week, so thought I'd ask how you picked/got given your forum usernames? I couldn't find anything in the archives for at last the last 4 years so thought it'd be fun to do again!
Mine is because I like Star Wars and when I first started using forums I was at University and living in Lincoln, so I've always kept it for the odd forum here and there.

I couldn't have the one I wanted so Vonnie is derived from my real name Yvonne and Ruth is my second name Which is after my cousin who had polo My mum and dad use to take her to special hospital when we was younger
Kaz - my name is Karen and my friends call me Kaz. I love flying and Boeing 747s have taken me on many exciting adventures around the world. @kaz747 is also my Twitter handle.
I always loved the romantic/tragic legend of Finvola, the Gem of the Roe and the haunting ballad written about her. Apart from that, I love the name too. π
Like most of my relatives on one side of the family, I have Miller as my second given name and backwards it's Rellim.
Where in Florida. Grew up in Miami Beach-family and daughter in Orlando area.Thinking of moving back with a year-soon as some med probs areresolved. Don't want to change hotses midstream. In Atlanta. No ocean!π₯
I used to work with a young women whose surname was Williams. Her boyfriendβs name was Smith. When he proposed he said he wanted to take her from a Ladyβs Williams to a Granny Smith ππ
By the way Jed, as you may remember for some strange reason I always read your name as Jedimasterloincloth. Just glancing at it I guess and not absorbing the name fully. O.k. I know there's no hope for me!!!
My late husband always called me 'Dougal ' after the little dog in the magic roundabout because my hair was similar I changed the spelling not wishing to have a mans name.
Mine is the name of a special horse I had owned since being a foal. When I was put on anticoagulats I gave up riding and as the horse was talented, I gave her to my equally talented friend. I now enjoy following their competision successes.
First name and initial of surname. Our first forum I was just Bob (only about 50 members back then now look at us.) but then another Bob came along so I became Bob D. As far as I know there is only Mumknowsbest (obvious) and myself of the original crowd who met up at HRC in 2008 although Aussie John who became somebody else came soon afterwards. We never bothered with fake names originally as we all knew each other I think but when we moved from Yahoo to HUL these avatars started to appear. No idea why.
Also, it's fun to have another name-one we choose for outselves. We can be whoever we like.
Hi y'all,
When I first met Bob D, way back in Jan 2010, I traded as Aussie John as Bob rightly said, back in the Yahoo days. When I came onto HU I seem to recall having problems so I ditched Aussie John and became Carn Euny.
I am interested in Neolithic history and the Celts and the Scilly Isles, Cornwall and the far west of Wales are inundated with these ancient sites. One is just off my bus route, bounded by Lands End, St. Just in Penwith and Penzance is the name I've chosen.
May the force be with you. π
John

What an interesting place to live!

It is Irina, and what is even more interesting is that the other side of the English Channel is Brittany, N.W France and they not only have identical geology to S.W. and western Britain but they have loads and loads of ruins which are also real examples of these ancient Neolithic times and identical to ours here.
At the time I joined I was charmed with my granddaughter's efforts to talk, hence Buffafly which I slightly regret though it is suitable because my AF does sometimes feel like an agitated butterfly and sometimes when I wake I feel as I imagine an emerging butterfly must feel!
Thinking back to my original AF days that's exactly how it felt - a squadron or two of butterflies in a dogfight in my chest - or a mob of octupusses wriggling their tentacles away to no particular tune or in any particular order ! Lol!
My only recent AF event within the last 3 and half years, brought about sleeping on my left side, was however, a distinct banging and thumping away in my chest - enough to wake me up and tell me I was in AF.
Yes it is and I regard myself as very fortunate. But it hasn't been achieved without a lot of expense, alot of experimenting and a lot of damn hard work - analysing food, ingredients and dieting.
Fascinating thread! Boringly, mine's my real name and first letter of surname. I first started using an online forum (not health-related) nearly 20 years ago. Rather like BobD many of us knew each other and there was no need to make up names back then. Anonymity online wasn't a big issue. I've just stuck with what I used then whatever Forum I might participate in.
Named after a sweet boxer dog belonging to family in Peru.
I've often wondered how people arrive at their user names. Many of them are very creative, some seem self-explanatory, and all are interesting. Sometimes I form a picture in my mind about someone based on their user name. My username is irina1975. I am a russian history freak and an animal lover. I first visited the (then) Soviet Union)in 1975. Then I had a rescued Siamese cat for 17 years who I named irina. That's it for me! irina1975
I became interested in Russia a few years ago, had an interest in the cold war before that and read the book on Stalingrad during WW2 (WW2 is a history interest of mine) so currently learning and reading about the Eastern Front is interesting too.
My first name and my mother's Co-operative dividend number. I have never forgotten the number as as a child, any time I ran errands for my mother to the local Co-op, I had to give the number, and the total spend and number was entered in a receipt book in duplicate (old blue carbon paper!) The dividend in Scotland at the time was 2/6d (12.5 pence) in the pound, a substantial amount.
Incidentally val757 is quite straight forward, my name plus a reference to my love of flying away on holidays
Mine came about by accident! Thought I was registering a password ( I came over from old HU site). First thing that came into my head that was a bit unusual...name of an Indie rock band Yurosei Yatsura that my son used to follow many moons ago.
As you can see from the photo, Hylda is our Hymer.
Mine is after the band Marillion the 1 is because it my first on this site also try to use Genesis (all time favourite group). I did try other names to do with my own name but they would not accept them.To be honest I am just about password out when my bank say I needed to change my password I tend to swap my account to another bank and keep the same one it's much easier! Used Lana Del Rey (very melodic music and and a voice to die for but would not get past round one on xfactor is another plus point) on some site but they thought I was girl and I'm a bloke!
I have three passwords, used depending on category of site (money, social etc) and change regularly (in theory). What messes the system up is that some sites only accept alphanumeric passwords and others insist on a symbol being added. The reason for three is that you get three attempts before being locked out.
My son named his rehab dog Syrup, hence I became her Granny. Once he recovered and moved, I kept custody until she passed. She was a beautiful companion for 16 years.
Well my name comes from liking football, fav team since I was little wait for it Man Utd. anyway someone commented after my four children had between them a football team 12 (a think that is it now) lol so my name for them is Nan Utd. I hope I donβt cause any trouble or dislikes with other fans π
