History - 2016 ablation for afib and touch up 2018. From then suffered SVT often induced by swallowing. Got ablation today. They were able to induce SVT but couldn’t pin point the pathway. They ablated a couple of areas but still present. So disappointingly is wasn’t successful. As it’s tricky to find have taken the option offered of two EPs present at next op to increase chances of being able to solve. I am going take take flecainide 50 mg twice daily instead of as PIP in the meantine. Op was ok and relatively pain free Except from groin area catheter entry point which was pressed on for majority of time to stop bleeding.
Wasn’t the outcome I was expecting 😕. Apparently I don’t need to take apixaban post operation as they didn’t have to tackle afib type procedure.
Planning to take it easy as per Bob’s guide😀
In bed at hospital and they will be getting me up soon to see how groin wound is.
A bit of palpitations and mild headache but otherwise fine.

You have had two ablations for AF; this third is for SVT. They couldn't pin point the pathway? Do you know what kind of mapping system they were using, especially if it was the newer ones that give more of a 20/20 vision. You seem to say you have been offered a fourth ablation but if that is the case, I am surprised that you were offered a fourth on the day of the ablation.
I thought the taking of anticoagulants was dependent on the CHAD score and not based on type of AF procedure, so you must be young.
Yes I’m 55 so was only on apixaban for op and because it ended up being just SVT ablation they said I didn’t need to take them after. I’m not sure what mapping system they used. The nurse spoke to me there and it sounds like they will do a full mapping next time with two electrophysiologists present. It’s all a wee bit confusing. Perhaps they didn’t have time to do a full mapping. I was in for 3 hours. She said next time it will take longer.
Mapping depends on the tools used and not on the length of the ablation. You might want to Google AF mapping to get an idea of the different systems if you are curious. To alleviate some confusion, you might want to research SVT ablation by putting those words in the address bar.
YesI was surprised. They said because it was an attempt at an SVT ablation then didn’t need anticoagulant. On my pre op assessment last week, nurse had also said that she was surprised that I was in on anticoagulant as for SVT ablation it was not necessary. She thought Iwas perhaps on it before, in case they had to touch up the afib points.
