Did anyone experience fluid retention... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Did anyone experience fluid retention when increasing carvedilol. If so, how long did it take to resolve?

Been on it since November last year and have not retained fluid - exact opposite to bisoprolol which I took from January to October and racked up a 10kg weight increase.
I've been taking 25mg twice a day for 6 weeks,no problems apart from it doesn't slow my heart down as I can tell now I've got me a kardia.
I have HF and AF but never taken Carvedilol, take Nebivolol and Diltiazem for AF and Ramipril for HF. Do you not have any water retention meds i.e. Furoseimide. I sometimes have some fluid retention and take Furoseimide (always have a pack in cupboard) when needed, which is not often. I am told that the Ramipril I take for HF is to make the heart stronger which helps to cut down on fluid retention. You should discuss with your doctor.

I do have torsemide and an increased dose does take the fluid off. I guess I was wondering how long a body takes to get used to the side effect of fluid retention when titration the dose of Carvedilol.
I take 25 mg twice a day and have for a couple of years had no fluid retention.
I take it, 6.25 mg twice per day. I started in August and have slowly gained weight, about 12 lbs. I did this on metoprolol too. My body just doesn't like beta blockers, slows me down. Also started Amiodarone in late September and that may be contributing to the weight gain too. I plan on stopping the amiodarone later this month and I hope that stops the weight gain after it's out of my system.
When I stopped metoprolol last year I lost 25lbs with no extra effort. So I know it's the beta blocker plus amiodarone causing the weight gain.
Thanks! I think so, too! Plus, I all of a sudden have a good appetite!
