I suspect the answer will be 'piece of string', I wish I'd asked when I got it and will phone cardiology on Monday.
I thought my AF had disappeared again although my heart was still feeling unstable, but it came back at the Church fete 😬 I tried to tough it out but when I nearly collapsed off my chair (which would have landed me on the vicar's lap) I had to be taken home. The rate seems to be escalating, this time up to 160, so I'm looking forward to getting sorted out 😧

If you are dizzy with a rate of 160 you need to go to the Emergency Department immediately.
I would say that this probably depends on your hospital and GP and on the severity. For my last one when I was severely compromised I had a phone call from my EP within 24 hours and DCCV arranged.
Sorry to hear you felt so ill. If you still feel dreadful and close to collapse go to a and e rather than wait until Monday for assistance. Best wishes.
I would have been OK at home blobbed in front of the tennis with my husband but being out I panicked a bit, as much from embarrassment as anything else. Fortunately the 160 rate wasn't constant. After my previous experience with A&E (AF stopped on its own but I had to spend nine hours there, mostly sat on a chair waiting for negative blood test results when I still felt poorly and needed to lie down!) I am very reluctant to go! My episodes slow gradually and stop after four hours, then I just want to sleep.
How long were you at the rate of 160 Buffafly? After a few hours or so I think I would have dialled the 111 number for advice. Once my rate gets to above 150 I feel quite ill. Over 200, I feel faint and hot and then it's ambulance and days in hospital.
There's really no saying when you'll get your monitor results. It depends when someone gets a chance to evaluate them, write a report and then get their secretary to type them up in a letter. If any member of that team are on holiday - well it could be a month or more. All being well I'd guess that it would take a couple of weeks.
I'm hoping if I phone cardiology and report another episode they'll pass it on, my difficulty at the moment is I can't take any meds and I doubt whether they'd give me anything in A&E unless they felt it was an emergency 😞
Hi Buffafly , sorry to hear you have had a recurrence of AF , it must have been horrid when you were not at home.
As Jean says I would ring 111 if you are concerned, you know your body well enough by now .
At least it might help to fast-track your results if they send you to A&E.
I appreciate your reluctance to go to go to A&E I am the same and have come to an agreement that I will go if an episode exceeds 24 hours, I have chest pain or my breathing becomes very difficult.
So sorry you have been unwell again Buffafly, HR of 160 can make you feel pretty horrible but I don’t think it is an emergency,
The time it takes will depend upon how long the wait for cardiology to process the readings, how busy the department is and how good the administration are at getting the letters out. At our hospital, at the moment there is a backlog of at least 6 weeks - even for very urgent cases but hopefully yours maybe sooner.
I spent 8 days last July mostly between 130 and 190 and although I was asymptomatic at that level, after 8 days I was absolutely shattered and took weeks to recover. Also the rate only reduced after being cardioverted by flecainide infusion.
Sorry to see you are unwell again Buffafly, this wretched thing never goes away does it 😟 I had a 24 hour monitor over a month ago and have still not heard from them, I assume they are waiting for my next appointment in August. Hope you get some answers by ringing Cardiology.
Hi Brenda, I am hoping for some speedy action, can't complain so far as things have been 'hurried up', but as I can't have any medication for my episodes until a decision about a pacemaker has been made I am feeling anxious 😩 I haven't tested it but I don't think I would be given meds in A&E either, unless the AF was persistent.
I hope you are keeping better. I know it's not Facebook but you could cheer us all up with a photo of your little granddaughter 😃
