Need some reassurance...

Hello,

I have a supraventricular tachycardia and taking no medicine.

My cardiac ablation is scheduled this Thursday... but after reading many posts on this forum I have become scared and stressed cause of the many outcome pp had after having one ( pain, hiccup, situation became worst, etc)

Please, is there anybody that had one and can reassure me that everything will be all right ?

Thanks...

You may have some after effects so I don’t think we can pretend you won’t. Most of the ablations you read about here will be for AF specifically so yours maybe a slightly different procedure.

The most common will be acid reflux, sore throat or in the case of ablation for AF - migraine - from punching through the Atrial septum.

All I can say they is not everyone gets them. The effects rarely last more than a few days and there are good OTC remedies.

The relief from having no unusual heart beats and tachycardia far outway a few minor and temporary side effects.

Everyone gets nervous a few days before their procedure and tries to convince themselves they don’t need it really or it is too risky.

Yes think carefully, yes do your homework and when you are sure that the benefits outway the risks - go with peace of mind and a positive mindset for a great recovery.

Hello Guiloush, apologies but about to miss a train!! Suggest you type Supraventricular tachycardia in the search box top right of this page.....others will help I’m sure......

Most important thin to remember is that people usually only come here when things are not right. Trouble free ablations are seldom reported. Stop worrying.

Hi Guiloush

I rarely post on here but I’m delighted to say I’ve just celebrated 12 months free of AF since ablation at St Thomas’s in London. I had no real problems, only nausea for a couple of days caused by the general anaesthetic, something I always get. I had a few ectopics for a little while, all totally normal, which stopped ages ago. I would absolutely do it all again if need be. It’s natural to be nervous, I was, but please be assured there are lots of us who have not had problems and therefore feel no need to look for continued help or support on the forum.
