I had an ablation for PAF 10 days ago at Papworth Hospital. Was told in recovery that my heart was in AF for two thirds of procedure and was given 2 Cardio versions. Had the odd palpitations etc, that I had been warned about. However, I had a migraine as soon as I got back on the ward, and another one the following morning. Since then I am having migraines every day.
I rang Papworth, to be told by a Consultant that it is unrelated to my procedure! I have read otherwise. Can anyone help please?

I am really surprised Susy as we know that migraine aura with or without pain is a result of the transeptal puncture although the precise reason is shrouded in mystery. I have no idea why your consultant denied this. Maybe he never had an ablation! Many people here suffer this although it usually passes after a few weeks.
Thanks Bob, I had been following this site, so I was surprised and confused when the Consultant denied it was to do with the procedure. He advised me to see my GP.
Suzy, I had my ablation on 6th July and like you I'm getting the spells of migraine aura. I have heard on this site that it's quite common to get this after an ablation. Not nice to have though is it. Hope they soon pass for both of us.
Hi Jean, I had mine on the 4th July under GA with TOE, and have felt pretty rough since! Supposed to go back to work as a Carer Support Worker in the Community on Monday - not sure it is a good idea now. Only just got my voice back. On my own, like you Jean, which I think makes it more scary.
Hope you soon feel better. From my experience after two ablations with GA and TOE, I felt rough for about a month after mine, with migraines with aura, sore throat, stomach..much due to the GA. So I wouldn't rush back to work. I think I needed a month off work, just so my brain fog cleared!
Im having ablation re-do number 3 next week, so have lots to look forward to.....and a month off work!!!!
Take it as easy as possible and recovery is improved!
