I take warfarin plus other medications but recently was prescribed frusemide for breathlessness, after approx two weeks I have bleeding, not a lot just blobs from the vaginal area plus a slight nose bleed, has anyone else had this and is it serious?
Supposed to go abroad in February, but am frantic with worry.
Also is there an alternative to frusemide.
Any help out there please

I've been taking warfarin for about 20 years ( now 77) and furosemide for 13 years . Please do see your GP for your vaginal bleed. They may well be able to put your mind at rest. Bleeds anywhere can be more likely when on warfarin when thinner tissues are involved but you need to get this checked .
I was sent to A&E a few months back with quite a steady trickle of blood from inside my ear which went on for many hours. Turned out to be nothing more sinister than damaged tissue near eardrum and made worse with warfarin.
When you see your GP you will be able to discuss your problem with Furosemide as well
Thank you so much for your response, I am not normally a worrier but the thought of going abroad and getting ill made me panic. You have put my mind at ease that you had a similar problem, will ring my doctor tomorrow morning hoping to get through.
I have this problem and it started about 4 years ago, just the odd vaginal bleed, nothing much. I saw my GP and she sent me to have ultra sound scans external and internal at the hospital and they could not find a reason for any bleeding, so nothing was done. When diagnosed with H/F and AF in 2014 I also had breast cancer and part of my treatment was the cancer drug Letrozole, which occasionally can cause vaginal bleeding so it was left that as it did not bother me that much to do nothing. I am not on warfarin but Rivaroxaban and I have been on furosemide took it for about 2 years) but rarely take it now, as my fluid retention is well controlled so only have it as a stand by.
I finished my 5 years course of Letrozole over 12 months ago and it has made no difference to the bleeding, so I can rule that out. I do not think Furosemide is the culprit so it may be the anticoagulant, this has been discussed with my GP and no conclusion come to.
I would speak with your GP and get checked out, next time I speak to my GP I will be asking her if it might be a good idea to do scans again to make sure all is still okay. Over the years I have had this the bleeding it has not increased or become more frequent.
