It's been almost a month after six months post ablation that I don't take Eliquis.
(Stopped Metoprolol and Flecanaide 30 days after ablation).
The only condition is that I regularly check my blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose that would change my score since I am over 65.
My EP says that eventually I will have to get back to Eliquis down the road as age takes it's toll but in the meantime I have some years drug free - he doesn't know how many.
It was a turbulent year. From emergency room and hospital and not understanding the words "you have atrial fibrilation" and then going through depression for a few months which was worse than Afib itself. It seems that most EPs are trained to prescribe betablockers, Flecanaide and anticoagulants - that's it - no talk and some kind of mental preparation. I ended in the hospital again having cardioversion and a few days after that ablation in NYC (new EP).
The two months post ablation were the toughest part as most of the time I was not even able to walk. 30 ft was a marathon for me. Then in just two days I was walking like nothing happened. I had to cut short my recent vacation in London to prepare house for hurricane Irma. I was glad to find all pubs that I used to visit 40 years ago still in business - hahaaa. Occasional pint didn't hurt.
My advice for newbies. Don't be afraid of ablation and don't wait. As my EP says: "The earlier the better."
I will keep you posted of my check ups especially if everything is fine because it seems that many leave after successful treatment.
Thank you Bob and all others for your support.
