I want to write to this post to help any newbies out there or anyone considering ablation. A few folks on here know about the struggle I have had over the past 3 year with my af. I went from short bursts to being in persistent af in the 3 year. I was in hospital 14 weeks in total last year as I was very unwell when having the episodes. Unable to breathe, chest pain, literally crawling on my hands and knees to get to my toilet.
Upshot is had my ablation in July last year as an urgent case after spending 3 weeks in hospital beforehand. Had a few weeks after where I went back into persistent af. Was then put on dronedarone but because of one particular side effect it was agreed for me to stop taking them even though I knew I could potentially slip back into af.
Well done last August I have only spent 3 nights in hospital with my af and only knew I was in af by an ecg reading. No bad symptoms just feeling off. Since May this year I have had no af at all so there is hope. I have other problems with my heart which may take a lot longer to solve but to be af free is heaven.
So don't despair there is hope.
