I have had bouts that have lasted 6hours really intense but have stopped with no intervention had my cryoblation in sept and have had a few bouts of af always feel very unwell after but the fact they stop by themselves is a plus my last one was a bout 6weeks ago so fingers crossed sure things will get better for you it is very early days yet make sure you get plenty of rest

It is not uncommon post ablation as the heart takes up to 12 weeks to form scar tissue - which is what stops the rogue signals.

If you are concerned don't hesitate to contact your Arrythmia nurse.

After my ablation I had several short periods of AF, and for a few weeks, I was convinced the procedure had failed. You will find many people on this forum thinking the same up to 3 or even 6 months post ablation. As far as the heart is concerned it has been "attacked" and it grumbles away for quite a while until the healing process is complete. Now there will be a percentage of people for whom the procedure won't have worked first time, but absolutely no reason to think you are in that group at this very early stage. Do take it easy, don't try to rush the recovery, and hopefully you will find things steadily improve. All the best

It was the first time I had gone out by myself since the procedure so it has really knocked me. thanks for all the advice everyone. I am supposed to be going back to work next week but I might delay it.

I had AF for 6 days post ablation starting 1hour after the procedure finished. I was not a happy bunny. Your heart has suffered trauma it has to heal. No doubt you will get a few more short bouts. It is pretty standard after the procedure. Hang in there they should diminish.

Just take it easy and don't push yourself too hard during this early post procedure phase.

I experienced one of my worst episodes of AF about 2 weeks after ablation. It lasted about 15 hours. Since then no recurrence after 2 years. Keep a positive outlook, and your chances of success are in your favor.

The period from 3-6 months post ablation is known as the "blanking period" while the heart heals from the assault it took during the ablation. During that time it is not unusual at all to have some periods of AF and it does not mean that your ablation was not successful. I had about 2 solid weeks of AF post ablation and then none since. Most important thing to remember is that you only have once chance to heal gently from this ablation. Don't over do it, don't rush it. Be as healthy as you can be to help your heart heal.
