Have had paroxysmal afib for many years now. I recently had my meds changed to 1.25 Bisoprolol twice daily plus Flecainide 50mg twice daily ( to take at the same time ) to try to stop break through afib , but I’ve read that taking these two drugs at the same time can in fact make things worse!!! Heaven forbid.. is anyone else doing the same thing and have you had adverse effects by taking them together. ??I’d be really grateful to hear from you, many many thanks.

It is quite normal to take a beta blocker alongside flecainide to prevent possible flutter
You may find this info sheet useful, especially the section on Flecainide.

Very coomon to take them together don't worry about it.

Thank you Jim , popping them into my mouth at the same time really worried me !
I take my beta blocker about 15 minutes before Flecainide. The BB helps mitigate risk of flutter from Flecainide as others have said. I did read that taking it a little time before Flecainide is wise but I’m not sure if it actually makes a difference but that’s what I do. . Also I don’t eat straight away if possible allow 30 minutes for it to be absorbed.
When I was given flecanide without a beta blocker I developed atrial flutter within a week !So it is the opposite.
I now do not need the 1.25 bisoprolol as flutter has been zapped and gone.
Im on 100mg x 2 daily. Stopped bisoprolol 5 months ago
I take Bisoprolol 3.75 mg at night and flecanide 50 mg 3 times daily. I find the flecanide useless. Preferred being on digoxin previously, that really did minimise symptoms, but was later told you should have digoxin & flecanide together, then why prescribe?
*shouldn't have*digi and flec
