When my cardiologist heard I was taking extra potassium in diet ( no supplements as dangerous) he suggested extra Magnesium to keep balance right. My GP then prescribed 200mg Potassium Citrate daily
So are you taking any Magnesium? Hasn't your GP prescribed a 'dangerous' supplement?
if you search magnesium on the search facility you will find countless threads on this subject. Just be careful and do discuss with your doctor .
I would start by having a red cell blood test for your Mg level send it to Biolab in London (costs around £75 if I remember rightly incl paying your local hospital to take the sample) but it has to go through an Alternative Practitioner as GP's won't want to know; the latter say the blood test they do (which is different) will be OK and it almost always is. If you level is low then take advice on a good manufacturer not just any from the high street. My AP gave me a compound which included Potassium and Taurine and said I should have the test and if low take CoQ10 as well, as they complement each other. I have a sensitive tum so I top up the Mg dose with a spray-on version. I would then advise you to have your levels checked again after 6 months to gauge your requirements - I have found if I stop/reduce the dose my levels soon sink back down again but that's not necessarily the case for all.
I find it helps me sleep/relax.
I take magnesium citrate (good bio absorption) tablets (one per day) with water. I buy 3 months supply on Ebay around 13 quid a bottle.

Unfortunately, he was not clear as to what kind. I reasoned that I could be on this for life, so I needed a low cost formulation. I eventually bought Magnesium Citrate. It comes in capsules. I hate swallowing big pills, so I bite one of them and pour out the powder on my jam each morning. I chose an entry level dose of 400mg. People complain of diarrhoea, I had the opposite problem, which is why I take it in the mornings.
This may be the placebo effect, but I am pleasantly surprised. It seems to be good prophylaxis against the early signs of AF, and much much safer than stuff like Flecainide
why not ask your GP to prescribe it? Should be less expensive that way??
I thought vitamins were my business, and doctors exist for prescription medicines. One day, once I have settled on what suits me, when I retire, I will try to get things on prescription. Also, I like to get things in bulk, a year's supply at a time, preferably in tubs instead of those pesky strips.
I also take Magnesium Citrate as it appears it has the best absorption. Also a skin spray sometimes.
My magnesium levels were low on GP testing so have been taking supplement via spray. Spray and tub on gently after shower in the morning. Not had bloods rechecked as only used for a month. I also am taking this for PMR as low levels can show as muscle weakness and increased fatigue. As I have gut probs was reluctant to take orally. I think I'm feeling the benefit but frightened to be too optimistic
